    Don't.

    I mean sure, the penguin pet looks cool, my siblings and I love it but here's the thing:

    With the amount of keys it will take you to get 10 Ice Cubes, you could purchase so many many weapons and gear. So much you could even purchase an expensive Dye with that amount of money.

    There's so many, many worthy purchases you could make with that amount of gold, but I'm not telling you what to do with your money, take my post as a wake up call.

    Snap out of it!

    If you needed a "sign" this is it. I'm telling you right now, is not worth it, don't break your bank, Premier Club is so close this feels like a ploy from Jagex to sink bonds from people who have been hoarding them.

    If you get 1 Ice Cube, great! Consider yourself lucky, if you got 2-4 even better, but don't push for 10.

    If the promotion returns in the future, and Jagex makes the ice cubes more common, you will feel like a complete imbecile.

    Money lost is Money you'll never get back, so might as well purchase other stuff instead. Like Games (Crash Bandicoot 4, Among Us, Untitled Goose Game , Halo MCC) you could buy them all with the same money you're planning to waste on the pet.

    Just saying.

    How Much Money in Bonds it would Take to Unlock the Penguin Pet

    EDIT: the rarity of the ice cube tokens have been moved from a purple rarity to a red rarity, making them much more achievable than the below statistics. Thanks Jagex for the response!

    With the new Double Dragon Chest promotion, there is an Ice Chest that gives you a purple reward, one of those prizes being an Ice Cube token. 10 of these tokens are required to be combined to unlock the new penguin pet override.

    Assuming we're using the base rarity value of a purple item in Treasure Hunter, the base rate is 0.15%, or 1/666.67 chance of getting a purple. This means, statistically, you would need to invest ~667 keys to get 1 purple reward, giving you 1 ice cube token.

    Since 10 tokens are needed, this would take an average of 6,667 keys in order to fully unlock the penguin pet override. Since bonds can be handed in for 15 keys, it would take 445 bonds to get this many keys. At a price of around 25m per bond to make math easier, this gives you an absurd 11,125,000,000 gp. This is 11.1b of in game currency.

    Now let's take a look at the process of buying these keys. The best current price for keys is 675 keys for $110. You would need to purchase around 10 of this package, bringing the total cost to around $1,100 just to unlock this pet. Now, assuming you earn other rewards as you go, you're going to gain other benefits and rewards separate from this; but if this is your main goal, these are the numbers needed to invest to get this.

    The worst part? Ice cube tokens are useless unless you get all 10; they serve no other purpose, and can't be traded or sold to other players. So if you get 7 tokens, they're completely useless unless you get the other 3.

    tl;dr: DON'T TRY TO GET THIS PET.

    Hotfix: Ice Tokens change of rarity

    Hello everyone,

    We've seen a few players concerned with the rates of receiving Ice Tokens during the current Dragon Chests promotion.

    Whilst the rates aren't as rare as perhaps speculated, we've reviewed the current balancing and determined the drops are much harder to receive than originally intended. As a result we'll be changing the rarity of the Ice Tokens from Purple to Red for the duration of the promotion - this has just been hotfixed.

    If you have already used keys during the promotion prior to the hotfix, we'll be crediting your accounts with the equivalent amount of Ice Tokens as per the intended balancing (we'll confirm full denominations tomorrow).

    We'll have more for you tomorrow. Thanks for your patience, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Jagex, please take more time and effort in deciding who to raid after your Twitch live-streams.

    From raiding people on their lunch break, to people MID BONG RIP. Whether you realize it or not these people you raid, and sending over 4,000 people to - represent your game and community. Raids with this many people need to be planned and well thought out before hand. Give the people you plan on raiding a heads up so they can maybe stash their bong prior to 4,000 people joint their channel after averaging 3 people.

    Just so much wasted potential and opportunity with these raids for aspiring streamers trying to make this a full time effort. Let streamers plan and make an event out of 4K+ people coming to their channel. Maybe check out these peoples streams ahead of time as well instead of just viewing the thumbnail. The people you raid reflects directly on you as a company on whom you endorse and think are good advocates for the game. Most of the raids after live streams lately aren't even people that stream RS3 primarily. Here's a simple idea: maybe leading up to the golden gnome voting close, host/raid each streamer ONCE to give exposure to your nominees. Randomly picking someone at the bottom of the category without even knowing them just comes across as extremely lazy.

    Put in more effort to get to know your content creators. They can help you and be partnered advocates in promoting YOUR game. Think of all the new players coming with the Steam announcement. Many of those players will flock to your live streams and other streamers on RS3. Being this disorganized on future hosts/raids can and will leave a negative impression.

    Note: I have NOTHING against the individuals being raided recently (I don't even know them). My gripe is with Jagex not giving appropriate notice to these individuals. As many of them have not experienced viewer numbers of this size before.

    Ever since the pandemic, Jagex should've cancelled all Yak track MTX promos and focused MORE on delivering contents/promises from last Runefest. I mean we pay for actual contents with our memberships/Premier Club.

    Instead they have delivered 4 Yak tracks this year... pretttty easily, then cancelled/shelved a lot of promised contents and blamed it on pandemic.

    And they had the audacity to call Yak Track a content, A CONTENT!

    I knew GWD3 was too good to be true, so I relied on Misc revamp and even that got shelved.

    Don't get me wrong, they have delivered some of the contents as promised, I just find it disgusting that they still are looking at our pockets and telling us at the same time that a lot of things are shelved.
