Educating people on how price manipulation works. Posted: 21 Jul 2020 02:02 PM PDT On the GE, you simply mass purchase a target item. You then sell it via direct trades. This way, the GE records the BUY but it doesn't record the SELL. GE will update its graphs without accounting for that missing information, so its graph will point upwards. The aim here is to misinform the greater population by making them accept the new price. Santa hats recently received this treatment. Once an item breaches the 2.147b mark, an item will basically cease to be traded on the GE, so its price is at the full mercy of any rich community that wishes to re-label prices on the forums or pc discord. A similar principle exists in real life, too. The practice is however illegal in most countries. Being a game economy such laws basically don't exist, which is why it happens so freely. This is meant to be a PSA for anyone that wasn't aware of the recent topic on santa hats. Hope this helped. [link] [comments]

Are forum partyhat prices real? Posted: 21 Jul 2020 12:21 PM PDT So my long term goal in Runescape for the longest time has been to obtain a partyhat. For years, I've always been a bit behind the curve in picking one up (I had 500m when they were 1b, 2.5b when they were 5b etc.) Recently, I've been the closest I was the closest I've ever been, but they appear to be spiking again. Now that might make sense for something so rare, but the issue is that other players (mostly rsof) are the only source of these transaction records. There's also allegations of price manipulation, so my question is, has anyone here actually bought or sold a phat recently? Are the forum prices realistic? For reference, the most recently reported prices are: 15400m/14565m/16000m/21500m/30000m/34500m PS: Jagex, you seriously need to do something about above max cash transactions on the ge. The crazy black market around not only rares, but other items above max cash is unacceptable in a game this big. [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Jul 2020 02:08 PM PDT Would it be possible to increase the radius that you can see other player's messages? It'd be nice to be able to talk to people at the same Digsite (but maybe not quite as far as in Dungeoneering or EDs) and wondering why people don't respond to you. It'd be great even if it was double the radius or having a slider or option(togglescape, wew), cause the current is only like 9 squares away? [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Jul 2020 11:09 AM PDT So am I missing something here? These claim to give up to a 10% exp boost in the given skills they effect, but in my tests, they literally do nothing. Even on the beach, they don't add any exp. Makes all of them pretty pointless honestly. If someone has evidence of them working, please let me know, but in my tests, they literally did not impact the exp I was getting at all, both on and off the beach. [link] [comments]
