    super unpopular opinion

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 10:47 AM PDT

The most dominant thing i see on this subreddit is the whining about lack of content updates.

    Just play the game man.

Y'all are telling me that you have completed literally everything there is to do in the game? Really? And if so, you're telling me that after the massive, and yes literally MASSIVE, amount of content there is available in RuneScape, you have done it all and still are THAT thirsty for more that you need to get on this subreddit and complain every week?

I get it, that's the nature of an average reddit user and this subreddit is sort of the haven for complainers, but look at the "no content updates" from a realistic perspective. The current state of the game, not to mention having lost essential passion driven staff members, but the game itself being in sort of of a "maintenance mode" (as i saw stated in another reddit post and i fancied that term).. you can't expect "new" content updates as often as i have seen some people hoping to get them. They are working on a priority list that makes sense to them as a team of developers. Fixing issues that seem to be dominant amongst their direct line of vision as well as complaints from the community.

They released archaeology this year, a massive skill with tons of lore that would keep an average player preoccupied for a long time, but only a few months later you want more content because you guys no-lifed the skill and got 200mxp in a month. Foh. I am starting to think it's the players with the issues, not jagex.

Reply with whatever you want but i don't want to see a single mention of "they're focusing more on MTX"

When an auto-loot function such as charming imp, herbicide or chest loots an object, a legendary pet set to scavenge will still attempt to loot that missing object. More importantly, this function consumes a hidden cooldown timer on the pet which makes actual loot on the ground be ignored.

Does the ninja team handle coding errors/bugs too? Hope they view this regardless.

I would like to be able to read the Archaeology journal while training the skill

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 07:37 AM PDT

It currently will play the animation without you gaining exp/materials or just straight up cancel if you try to read a journal page. This seems like a big oversight to the skill in my opinion.

I suppose I could pull open the wiki and read the pages there in the meantime.

I'm tired of waiting YEARS for fixes that should have been fixed early on of an UPDATE! FOUR and a HALF YEARS later for a fix that's coming in "Due Course" and Crystal Chakrams are still not AUGMENTABLE!

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 05:31 AM PDT

I've been reporting religiously day after day since Invention release in late January of 2016. Waiting Patch Week after Patch Week in hopes this will get fixed as Jagex said it would for 4 and a half years! Enough is enough! I'm not waiting another 4 and a half years for what should have been fixed early on Invention's release. Give us an update on the fix.

Vod | RuneScape Music | Unlisted RuneScape Music

    General

    Communication Response

We are aware all of you would like to see more communication and progress is being made and that is internally communicated as well. That's all I can say on the matter.

    Audio Team

Everything that comes into Jagex goes through the audio department for the most part.

    Archaeology Audio

450 individual sound effects & 23 music files (themes/various jingles) for Archaeology.

    Sound Library & Recording

    Going into the Mine

    • We have a big library of sounds, and we can add to it and use it as needed.
    • If we can't manufacture a sound we usually go out and record.
    • For Archaeology we had to go out and record sounds at a flint mine called Grime's Graves.
    • Sounds from objects aren't always the sound you expect. A giant pinecone can sound like a monster.
    • You have to match the key qualities and direct the recording so you know how it fits.

    Editing Sound Effects

Creating Sounds | Sound variations | Editing in Adobe Audition

    • We take the recordings and remove the ones that aren't good and refine them down to use.
    • Specific elements are adjusted depending on the animations and the content involved to properly time it.
      • We typically see the animations or concept art before completing the audio most of the time.
    • We always have to give random variations to sounds such as excavating since it's a repeated action.
      • We used 16 that can be used at any one time.

    Music

    • For Archaeology since it took place in so many different areas we really had to diversify the music/styles.
    • Everlight - Time is the Key - Light mood since you train for a long time.
      • Modular synthesizer - Produced 25-30% of the sounds in this tune (rythmic, bass parts).
      • Synthesizer works by selecting a sound and adjusting in various ways with various dials.
    • We can create sound/music differently but it all comes together as one whole sound.
      • I (IanT) make a pallet of sound effects to help create a mood for that area.
      • I (Surma) like using the concept art and use that as an inspiration.

    Trailers/Voice Over

Chalk Pit Area | Benches Scene | Archaeology Launch Trailer

    • For archaeology we had a lot of marketing and trailer assets recorded at a chalk pit.
    • In the "BENCHES" scene, Timbo is in this massive area so we had to make it realistic.
      • We added a delay effect/slap and did some editing since it was a windy day.
    • We had a voice actor to present Archaeology and it went down really well and we would like to do it again.
    • For the trailer we had to consider how it progresses over time, how it breathes. What's the most important part and how to build tension and release it through audio.

    Other

    • There are around 150,000 sound effects in the game in total.
    • We realize players play the game how they want so they don't have to listen to it, but we really want to encourage them to.
    • We absolutely got some great content to work on in the future where we can record different instruments/people.
    • Andrew Gower's mom bacon frying sound for cooking was changed since it no longer fit anymore.
      • Synthesizer audio files were tiny and we wanted to keep everything tiny back then.

Are deadclicks going to be addressed again?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 02:19 PM PDT

The last couple of weeks I've been experiencing a huge amount of deadclicks where a normally red cursor click becomes a yellow cursor click and makes your character simply walk through the object instead. It has been happening constantly to me at Telos, and a few times just now AFKing harps. I have clicked through harps about four times now in 30 minutes, and even just by spam clicking the same spot, eventually it will become a yellow cursor click instead of a red one, so you can test this yourself.

    ‘Elite skills’

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 12:43 PM PDT

Forgive me if I'm wrong. Wasn't invention meant to be the first of many 'elite skills'. I swear when it came out they made a big deal about being more skills that have requirements to be able to unlock them. But nothing have ever happened with it.

Zamorak Wine bots on every world!

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 01:13 PM PDT

Zamorak Wine bots on every world!

After seeing the post yesterday about the cursed energy bots though id flag up another commonly found location for bots, the zamarok wine bots north of falador, they are on both F2p and P2P world, wearing either blue wizard robes or batwing, around 60-70 combat with no members skills trained (possibly upgraded f2p once they have generated enough),they will get attacked by the monks of zamorak after telegrabbing the wine of zamoark then run toward the bandos portal to be out of range long enough to loss the quick aggro then repeating,

You can disrupt them with various methods if you want to slow them up enough to get them to lobby but they will quickly re-appear and continue on.

Think Jagex should put some counter botting measures on the wine spawn (could be that it spawns on a different table) but this yet another example of the shady botting activities going on RS, its bad enough seeing them on OSRS
