    Rant Wednesday - 01 April

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 05:14 PM PDT

Rant Wednesday is a monthly thread for exactly what you might think it's for. Rant, vent, complain, comment, speak your mind and air your grievances with anything concerning RuneScape, Jagex, or even the subreddit itself! This is your time to get whatever you want off your chest, so make it count!

You might find that having constructive elements to your comment be received and embraced better by others, but it is by no means required. Think of "keep it constructive" more as a suggestion, than a requirement. The only real requirement is that you follow our subreddit rules, which includes no personal attacks, personally identifiable information, harassement, or anything that can be reasonably considered excessive.

Have fun, and (try to) play nice!

Archaeology is the first skill I've trained where I don't particularly care about getting the most XP/hr

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 11:35 AM PDT

Theres just so many other benefits and things to explore in the skill that it seems a waste to just focus in on getting the most XP possible. I'm finding myself spending a lot of time in lower level areas just to complete a collection, or solve a mystery.

I think it was a fantastic move by Jagex to have multiple ways to progress in the skill besides watching your level counter go up.

    Harlequin Cow Requirement

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 09:58 AM PDT

So far, I am very much enjoying the new skill - it feels more like a community event rather than a skill.

As many of you know, a shiny cow is required for one of the Mysteries.

For you to have a decent chance at a shiny offspring, you need a T3 cow breeding pair, with Radiant, Glistening and Sparkling; even now, there is a 10% chance for a shiny offspring. For you to actually obtain these parents can take a long time and a lot of trait rolls.

The other way to obtain the shiny cow is to buy one; currently, these go for around 50m each.

To put a new skill behind a time gate or a money barrier, in my opinion, is ridiculous. This needs to be changed, to something like any shiny animal, to allow everyone to finish this currently ridiculous mystery.

Many people did try asking this on the stream, however the question was not answered.

Having to compete with other players for material caches feels like it goes against the recent, cooperative direction of skilling

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 02:49 PM PDT

One of the major factors of the the Mining and Smithing rework (have you heard?) was the elimination of competition, where rocks would have independent ore for everyone. So you would look at another player at a mining site and think, 'ah, maybe someone I can talk to or examine' instead of 'damn, this bastard is gonna steal all my resources'.

If the intention was to limit the amount of materials we can get from caches, surely there are other ways of doing that? With how much of a cooperative effort Arch seems to be when it comes to finding clues and solving mysteries this incentive to avoid other players seems bizarre.

Archaeology: I would like to buy an upgrade which makes screening soil more worthwhile

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 02:45 AM PDT

80% to 90% of the soil you screen gives you nothing. Which means out of 100 soil you get maybe 15 materials. Is soil designed just to clutter your inventory and make you drop it? When you bother with banking soil and using it, you still lose time because material caches are more worthwhile. Can we make screening a bit more effective?

Can we get a new megathread?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 09:18 AM PDT

Actual megathread has minimal helpful knowledge to do with Arch and is just people talking about how many skillcapes can now have or how max isnt maxed anymore ect.

and theres that many comments filtering through it all to find 1 comment maybe pertaining some relevant information seems to be a needle in a haystack, so pretty much need a megathread thats devoted to arch info only not random shit talk as well.

tl;dr Megathread has to much general comments and praise and to much just wow good skill to find relevant info
