For the love of Gods, implement this small change to the Brooch

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 03:35 AM PDT

    Change this

Portable Skill station effect are twice as likely to trigger.

    to this

Portable Skill station effect can trigger everywhere. This effect is doubled when using Portable Skill station.

    Examples

    • Without the Brooch you have 5% chance to create extra potion using Portable Well. With the brooch you will have 5% chance to create extra potion w/o Portable Well and 10% chance when using Portable Well.
    • Without the Brooch you have 10% chance to save 1 hide/clay using Portable Crafter. With the brooch you will have 10% chance to save 1 hide/clay w/o Portable Crafter and 20% chance when using Portable Crafter.

    Why?

    • Majority of the Brooch's value comes from doubled portable proc rate. This makes it controversial as Portable Skill Stations are exclusive to TH. Changing it in proposed way would completely decouple it from Portables while retaining the existing benefits.
    • Part of the "Main" community doesn't use Portables and the entirety of Ironman community cannot use Portables. Proposed change would make the brooch actually useful for these groups.
    • Subjectively, the Brooch isn't worth it's value. At the moment it's only useful at handful of skills where you aren't already using pocket slots (which should hold Porters/Scrimshaws/Cores or Skull instead) and where you are pushing for 120/200M.

    The Rare Exchange

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 02:29 AM PDT

Random stupid idea that has had little thought put into it.

    Suggestion

Jagex could introduce a new portion of the Grand Exchange called the Rare Exchange (or some other suitable name).

    • It would be the only way Rares can go from 1 account to the other.
      • Normal trading, Pvp, etc would no longer be possible.
    • Every transaction would be made public, both the price and the 2 participants.
    • Incorporate platinum tokens so players can trade above max-cash.

Bonus points if there are fair restrictions put on who can partake in it to prevent people from making alts to hide their name.

The idea is it would work similar to the Grand Exchange where you can put up offers OR players can use a trade system to directly trade it from 1 person to another (if you want to donate it to a friend).

The goal isn't to regulate manipulation but rather make everything transparent. It's unlikely manipulation would be prevented but it would go a long way to help identifying who's causing it.

Guide to farming runs for almost all patches: Gold and XP

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 08:43 AM PDT

    Gold runs (Herbs and Hops):

This is the preset I use for a money making farm run. This WILL be going into the wilderness so do not bring anything you don't want to lose. You should be able to finish this run in about 7-9 minutes. The minimum recurring time is 80 minutes but I wouldn't do this more than 3 times daily.

    Herbs:

The best profit for herb should be spirit weed. If you are planting this you should definitely use ultra compost, and use miraculous treatment if your herb dies. If you want a bit more XP then use dwarf weed, but you will get a lot of XP from the XP run later so I would just stick with spirit weed.

(Important note): If you have the 120 farming cape, there is currently a bug where tool leprechauns will auto-compost all your patches regardless if you want it or not. The way to work around this is to keep the leprechaun empty and give him 7 noted ultracompost at the start of your herb run.

    1. Start at the Trollheim herb patch. I'm using the lunar spell with a spellbook swap. If you don't have this unlocked use standard teleport to Trollheim. Activate the aura, give the leprechaun the ultra compost and drink the juju potion and start harvesting.
    2. Next patch should be the wilderness patch. Teleport with the wilderness sword and after harvesting go to the obelisk south west and select location 1 or 2. I have done this patch at least 1000 times and not once have I been pk'ed.
    3. (The next few patches are interchangeable, but the second to last and the last patch should be the same)
    4. Go to the Falador patch with cabbage-port from explorer's ring.
    5. Go to the Morytania patch with master farmer hat.
    6. Go to the Catherby patch with botanist mask.
    7. Go to the Ardougne patch with POF teleport.
    8. Go the the Crwys patch by the spirit tree and selecting 0 (I wouldn't bring attuned crystal teleport seed to the wilderness, but its faster to teleport. if you do).

Go to the bank chest in the district. Spellbook swap to standard and bank everything in your inventory except runes, urns, urn enhancers, and the grapevine seeds. This is because lots of free inventory space is useful for the next part. You can get the daily items in your mask/head at this point if you want.

    Hops:

This one is a slow, there are no fast teleport for most of these patches. All locations are interchangeable, but leave the Entrana one to last. I do grapevine and use miraculous treatment if they die.

    1. Teleport with Watchtower teleport (make sure the location is inside Yanille) and harvest the patch north.
    2. Teleport to Seer's village lodestone and harvest the patch north west.
    3. Teleport to Varrock lodestone and harvest the patch south east.
    4. Teleport with captains log (do your ships if you want), leave the portal and click on the monk. He will get you to deposit items and deposit cape, quiver, weapon, off hand and explorers ring. Harvest the patch there.
u/Arromancy Mentioned that you can use arc Journal as an faster alternative if you don't care about doing your ports.

XP Run (Tree, Bush, Mushrooms, Cactus, Fruit Tree, Calquat, Money Tree, Crystal Blossom):

This is the big one. You can expect somewhere around 1m XP from this run. You could do this twice daily if you use rapid growth but I just do it daily. The way I would recommend you do this is to wait until Meilyr hour starts and then use 6 torstol incense sticks. Wait until it reaches potency level 4 and start this run. This is the preset I use. The run should take 15 minutes with optimal teleports.

    Trees:

I use magic tree, yew is a cheaper alternative. Start at W84 Lumbridge market to get the 10% pulse core boost. As soon as you get it switch to a different world and start the run.

    1. Activate the 10% desert pantheon aura, summon the wolptinger, CONSUME the Brassica Primer and check health of the Lumbridge tree. All 4 of the below are interchangeable.
    2. Switch to elemental battlestaff and teleport to Varrock, switch back to duel wield and check the health north east.
    3. Switch to elemental battlestaff and teleport to Falador, switch back to duel wield and check the health east.
    4. Teleport to Taverly lodestone and check the health north.
    5. Teleport to Trahaearn with the attuned teleport crystal seed and check the health south.

    Bushes:

I use lychee, this one is quite cheap to pay to protect especially if you have the master farmer outfit.

    1. Start with elemental battlestaff swap and teleport to your house (make sure you move your house to Rimmington). Harvest the patch west and pay the farmer. Next 4 patches are interchangeable.
    2. Teleport with the free Kandarin monastery teleport to harvest the patch north east and pay the farmer.
    3. Teleport with POF teleport, go to the spirit tree and select option 7 for the patch in Etceteria west and pay the farmer.
    4. Teleport to Crwys with attuned crystal teleport seed and harvest the patch there and pay the farmer.
    5. Teleport with combat bracelet (option 2) to champions guild to harvest the patch west and pay the farmer.

Mushroom, calquat, cactus, money tree and crystal blossom:

You can do the following in whatever order you want. Personally I do calquat, cactus, money tree, crystal blossom then mushroom.

    1. Dismiss your wolptinger and summon a giant ent. Teleport to Karamja lodestone and run south for the calquat and pay the farmer.
    2. The cactus I use is normal dragonfruit, golden dragonfruit is more XP but much more expensive. If you are going to use golden dragonfruit bring one guarana (3 without outfit).Equip the elemental battlestaff and teleport to the Anachronia totem next to the cactus patch. Swap back to duel wield and harvest the patch. Pay this farmer if you are using golden dragonfruit.
    3. Use the imperial district teleport and run north for the cactus patch there.
    4. Teleport to Al Kharid lodestone and run north east to the cactus patch there. (I'm not sure if this is just me, but the Al Kharid patch and the imperial district patch are both bugged, in that they are automatically protected without the need for payment. The Anachronia patch still needs payment tho) u/Bicko_Blicko Pointed out if you have done elite desert task then it is automatically protected, my brain just went yeet when writing this part.
    5. Teleport using the POF teleport and run to the bank box to get a money tree seed. Harvest the money tree, plant the seed and open the money bag (only if it has grown).
    6. Teleport to Prifddinas and harvest the crystal blossom south east.
    7. For mushroom just use the highest level you can plant. Teleport to Amlodd district using attuned crystal teleport seed, go to the fairy ring and teleport to c.k.s for the Canifis mushroom patch.
    8. Teleport using Tirwann quiver and option 7 for the Tirwann mushroom patch.

At this point you should have 1-2 minutes left on your 10 minute pulse core. Go back to W84 Lumbridge market and open the bank. You can choose to bank unnecessary items if you want (it makes the next part easier) and grab 7 carambola saplings. The next part is interchangeable, but it is more efficient to chain together step 5,6 and 7. Start the next section as soon as your 10% buff is refreshed.

    Fruit trees:

    1. Go to Catherby lodestone and run east for the patch there.
    2. Go the Lletya with the attuned crystal teleport seed and go south east for the patch there.
    3. Go to the Meilyr district with the attuned crystal teleport seed and go north for the patch there.
    4. Use the master farmers hat to teleport to herblore habitat and harvest the patch there.
    5. Teleport using the POF teleport and go to the spirit tree and select location 8 for northern Brimhaven. Run west for the patch there.
    6. Go back east to the spirit tree and teleport to location 2 to Tree Gnome Stronghold. Run east for the carambola patch and then south west for the tree patch.
    7. Go back to the spirit tree and teleport to location 1 to Tree Gnome Village. Squeeze through the loose railings and follow Elkoy out of the maze for the patch south west.

And that is the final patch! You should have around 1-2 minutes spare on the Brassica primer and about 6-7 minutes on the pulse core. You can do your POF and ROOT now if you want. You also have about 45 minutes of desert pantheon XP boost left to do whatever you'd like.

    General notes:

This is my first time writing a guide, so my formatting/layout might not be the best. I'm open to any feedback/comments/questions about this guide or grammar and wording. I feel like I have all the optimal teleport for the patches but if there are better ones then let me know. Alternative teleports can be found on the RS wiki next to the location of each patch. There might things I forgot to mention because in my run it is pretty much second nature to me. I'll just finish with just a few general tips.

    • The augmentation on the Excalibur has mobile and wise 4. I also have double surge unlocked.
    • Bladed dive and surge is very important to the run, especially when you are getting familiar and trying to finish within 15 minutes of Brassica primer.
    • Some patches I have left out such as the elder tree, mainly because it takes a long time to grow and the XP doesn't feel to worth it, you can include it just like how you do money tree if you would like to.
    • Bring Brooch of the Gods into this run if you want, but it was just released today and I'm too poor to afford it(accepting donations).
    • Bring LOTD switch for Seren spirits if you don't use the monolith relic power.

That is it! Thank you for reading this guide and if I see any more optimal teleports or mistakes in my guide I'll rectify them as soon as I can. Happy farming!

OSRS POH is notoriously better than RS3's and now Construction Contracts (Mahogany Homes) have passed the poll. When will RS3 start seriously considering the long-needed, complete Construction rework?

Add (fortunate) component crates similar to the archaeology materials

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 03:27 AM PDT

Create a small and large crate to be able to buy and sell fortunate components. Currently it's a hassle having to buy out all treasure trial items because of trade limits being set at 2 per 4 hours.

Similarly to the vintage and timeworn archaeology crates, the small crate would contain 5 fortunate components while the large one would be 25 or even 50.

In my opinion this would really smooth out the creation of alchemical items.

Clue hunters should also be happy that they can now disassemble fort items right away and selling crates later on, rather than having to store/sell every unique item they get.

On a post about the price of EoF, within 10 mins the OP had 2 guys jumping down his throat about various aspects of his question and the 'correct' way to ask. We aren't in school, nor are we 7 years old. When someone asks a question, can we be nice and answer it? Rather than critique 'how' they ask the question. Or if we have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all? Like my mother would say

Lots of special attacks were Adjusted and revolved around the old combat system and around pking but never changed when switching to EOC, I think it's time to adjust them to today's standards.

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 12:48 PM PDT

Some weapons use up a stupid amount of your special bar for example

Brackish blade deals such low damage and uses up 75% adren.

D hally shares a cooldown with cleave.. this wouldn't break the game to just remove that

Korasi Sword was made to 60% so you'd need vigour for Double korasi specs in wildy back when people pk'd pre eoc.

Magic short bow changed to 55% because double specing with msb was deemed too OP back in the early pking days.

Bone Dagger would've been fun to play with but 75% Adren cost... never ever gonna be used

Probably more weapons I'm forgetting, what do you guys think or do you think it's fine as is?
