Game Update: Ninja Strike #6 - Grand Exchange - Feedback Monday

Now that there's a miniquest list, is there any chance of something like this being released? I posted this a couple years ago to fairly positive reception, and I thought it might be nice to consider again!

I have collected over 100 Pokemon RSN screenshots over the last 8 months. Here is the album of them!

Now that we have +/- 20% buttons, can GE prices please update +/- 10%?

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 08:05 AM PDT

    REPOSTED

Look at how many items have sharp declines or spikes. I'm still talking to you Luminite Injector. Now having the 20% option means more items could see massive increases and decreases. The problem with having outdated guide prices of weeks old is this affects new and returning players; possibly even active veterans who have no clue why item X went up suddenly. As the years progress, the 5% is starting to look more irrelevant and misleading, which is why it needs upgrade.

But how can we implement this if people are gonna manipulate prices? Here are the conditions for an item updating:

    • Items that update up to 10% will have a higher trade volume requirement than the current 5%. This means that only higher traded items can get this update.
    • Trade volume threshold should factor based on number of unique traders. It's to combat someone is playing catch with items between alts. While people could make more alts but they'd have to buy bonds for member items. I'm sure there are better money making methods than just maniping a low trade item.
    • The trade volume and unique traders threshold will be differed based on active trades of all other items. If the GE is super busy, a higher threshold is required for updating each day. This is based on active population.

This argument of price manip gets brought up a lot but if the machine learning could improve, I'm sure Jagex would implement this.

    Gee, that looks familiar

    Why is this a thing...

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 10:03 AM PDT

Maxed today, then Jagex gave me my first Bil stack

    Posted: 14 Jun 2020 08:16 PM PDT

Where are the t92 armour fixes Jagex??

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 08:01 AM PDT

Well at this point my guess is that it is being deliberately hold back to fill a slot as an actual update #keknoupdates, since the players are desperately waiting for it and jagex will get praised, even though this should have been the case from the start and not 2 years after.

I think I accidently stumbled upon the rs3 black market...

Good GE update, well done mods who worked on this!

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 03:18 AM PDT

Spent my last 5m on a DTD, auto-retaliated it on a GWD wolf

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 12:06 AM PDT

Next Mobile Update? : Force reduce keyboard size. Can't see what I'm typing when editing GE search.

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 10:53 AM PDT

Is this what the game will look like with fixed tick rate? I'm crying..

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 03:19 AM PDT

The GE is so fast and responsive it's unreal.. I can't believe it. I listened to the stream when they first showcased it but i still don't understand how they were able to make this part of the game respond as if the big fat tick rate doesn't exsist. We desperatly need the rest of the game get the same treatment.

Option to turn off invention machine

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 08:16 AM PDT

Could we have the option to turn off an invention machine so that there's available power to build and use a different machine in a different spot? Wouldn't it make sense to have this level of control available to players since you aren't always using all machines at the same time? You can turn off what you dont need and use what you do. This way you aren't punished by having to destroy a machine.

Ironmen should be allowed to participate in Demon Flash Mobs

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 06:17 AM PDT

At this point Demon Flash Mobs are absolutely soloable.

It seems to me like there is no reason that special rules should apply to them, as supposed to any other monster. If a non-iron helps them with the kill, then an iron just shouldn't get the drops, same as any other environmental monster.

I honestly don't even know what to say, I've never been this lucky in my life.

The abomination should be turned into a proper boss fight.

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 03:00 AM PDT

At the moment, it feels so incomplete. They made this beautiful looking boss with 5? Different mechanics to understand, and even gave it the rarest drop in game. Why not just make it an officla boss? The fight itself is FUN. The drops are already a decent moneymaker. But with a rework to be a proper fight, I can easily see it being one of the favorite bosses in game.

Petition to add my boy abomination to the official boss list and give him a pet drop 😭

Night/Day and Weather Done Right in Runescape

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 11:56 AM PDT

Properly done, the implementation of day/night and weather in Runescape would be a huge update that could add quite a lot of flavor to the game. The implementation would have to be a careful one, though, to not seem fake and to ensure that everyone gets to experience all conditions occasionally. Also, I feel that each world/server have synced their day/night and weather - it'd be weird for it to be raining in one world's Varrock and sunny in another.

I propose that a Runescape complete day last 84 minutes. This time isn't completely arbitrary - it was chosen to align with Runescape's 0.6 second ticks so that each of the 24 hours in-game last 3.5 minutes, or 350 ticks. This also skews Runescape days versus real-life hours, so that eventually, playing the same time everyday will get you to all day/night states. This means that 5 Runescape days takes 7 real-life hours. Under this system:

    • Normal day time (like what most of Runescape currently is) would last 38 minutes.
    • Evening would last 4 minutes.
    • Night time (like what most of Morytania currently is) would last 38 minutes.
    • Morning would last 4 minutes.
    • Thematic areas like Morytania would retain their look, explained by a supernatural curse or something.
    • Every 5 minutes and 15 seconds, the day/night cycle shifts 10 degrees to the west. (This implies also that Gielinor is about twice the size of currently explored areas.) This will give the appearance of a rotating planet. This divides the world into 16 10-degree zones (about half of which are currently unexplored areas).

There could be a myriad of effects introduced based on day/night, and those presented here are just a few possibilities:

    • At night, monsters in the Wilderness will be 25% more powerful but give access to a better drop table only accessible during this time.
    • Thieving is 5% more effective at night.
    • Some fish bite more often at Morning and Evening (maybe new fish only available then).
    • Better Chronicle Fragment rates during the day while divining.
    • Hunter is 5% more effective at day.
    • Some Slayer creatures have a preference of day/night and will give 5% more Slayer XP if killed during this time.
    • Some crops may give better yields if planted/harvested at Morning/Evening.

For weather, the default is Clear weather in each 10 degree-square chunk, and every 5 minutes and 15 seconds (whenever the day/night cycle shifts west), there is a 10% chance of Clear becoming Overcast in that chunk.

If an adjacent chunk to the west is Overcast, the chance of the current chunk becoming Overcast is instead 30%. Each cycle shift, there is a 40% chance that an Overcast chunk returns to Clear, and a 20% chance that it instead turns to Rain. In each cycle shift, there is a 50% chance of rain spreading to the east, and a 30% chance of it spreading to the north and/or south. Rain has a small chance to instead manifest in a Storm (with lightning and thunder). Each cycle shift, there is a 30% chance that Rain stops, and a 70% chance it continues into the next cycle.

Finally, there are some special weather events. In colder climates, rain would fall as snow. (If it currently already snows in a place, it'd only do so now during Snow events.) In the winter months, the areas in Misthalin and Kandarin have a 20% chance of Rain falling as Snow, and if it would be a Storm, it is instead a Blizzard. Finally, tropical locations (Mos Le Harmless, Karamja, Ape Atoll, etc.) have a small chance of a Hurricane instead of a Storm. After Hurricanes, affected areas may have some damage for you to clean up/repair.

Again, there's a myriad of different effects that could be introduced, based on the weather. Here are a few possibilities:

    • Slayer assignments could receive more damage while it is raining.
    • Agility could be 5% more effective in Clear weather.
    • Crops could grow faster in Rain.
    • Hunter could be more effective in the Snow.
    • Rare thunder dragon mini-bosses could spawn randomly in the world only during a Storm.
    • Construction and Cooking, as well as potion and food effects, are more potent during Snow and Blizzards.
    • Rare implings (maybe even new ones) spawn during Blizzards and Hurricanes. At least one always spawns in the eye of a Hurricane.

There are also some odd celestial events that sometimes occur:

    • Auroras: At night, especially in northern climates, auroras can spawn rarely in the night sky. While an area is effected by an aurora, XP rates of all skills are increased by 20%. They last for at least 5 minutes 15 seconds and sometimes longer.
    • Lunar Eclipse: At night, sometimes a lunar eclipse will occur, causing the moon to turn blood red and a red tinge highlights the land. During a lunar eclipse is the only time to plant a new flower (maybe called the Sanguine Rose), which is used to make a new potion that gives a +8 or +12 (depending on potency of the potion) boost to Constitution for 6 minutes. Lunar Eclipses have a 1% chance of occurring and affect all areas where it is currently night. They last all night. (This means Lunar Eclipses will occur once about every 6 real-life days.)
    • Solar Eclipse: During day, rarely a solar eclipse will occur over part of the daylight area, causing shadows to be cast over the entire area and a corona appear around the sun. During a solar eclipse is the only time monsters can drop the rare Eclipsed Ring. This ring gives +8 Prayer and Protection prayers are 10% more effective. Solar Eclipses only occur over a 10-degree square area and last for only 1-3 cycles (so 5 minutes, 15 seconds to 15 minutes, 45 seconds). Solar Eclipses have a 0.2% chance of occurring. (This means a Solar Eclipse will occur about once a real-life month.)

There's TONS more that can be done with this, and you are free to suggest. But the idea is it makes the game much more dynamic so that each time you log on, there's a chance of events based on day/night/weather mixing things up. Definitely helps some with the grind and realism of the game.

    Thoughts?
