Suggestion: Make Beer Reduce Invention Levels

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 09:29 AM PST

Not only does it make logical sense, this would allow people to finally be able to reduce invention levels for perks that have higher probabilities at lower levels, e.g. Flanking 3, Biting 2 combos, Tinker combos, etc.

The mechanics could be something like this:
Any glass/single dose of Beer/Ale reduces 1 invention level each
A keg of Beer reduces 5 invention level per keg

Given that beer and ales used to have interesting niche effects that are now obsoleted by pulse cores, this could be a nice QOL update to help people making perks. Especially since we don't know if the same logic will also apply to ancient invention (certain perks being rarer at higher levels) this would help mitigate that.

Vuln bombs should refresh the vuln timer

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 08:31 AM PST

Currently you have to wait until the vuln effect wears off to have vuln reapply if using vuln bombs. The vuln spell, however, refreshes the effect. Please have the bomb do the same as the spell.

My Perspective on Telos: 0% -> Warden in 2 Weeks

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 07:25 AM PST

I received a request to do a video on learning Telos. However, instead I decided to write a Reddit post. NOTE: This is NOT a Telos guide!!

    Background Information

I started my PvM journey on June 2019. I remembered doing Araxxor for 10 min kills yet still dying on P4 Oldest PvM VOD. Then November 2019 came and after having a tour of every Solo-able PVM boss, Telos became my last stop. Finally after several attempts and deaths (and especially frustrations) at 195 KC, I have achieved the WARDEN title! Kill VOD 59 mins - 1h 8 mins (signed of Life because didn't move too far from falling rock).

    Phase by Phase Strategy

NOTE: This is not perfect by any means but this was how I did it. I am a Revolution user (auto-cast is Blood Blitz). My full preset, which uses a yak full of Sailfish.

    Phase 1

    • General Strategy: Sunshine Rotation + Guthix Staff + Dreadnips. Take advantage of Green Beam when it appears.
    • Tendrils: Guthix Staff OR pre-charged Detonate + release, both whilst on Sunshine
    • Uppercut: Timing is quite tricky at first but I'd wait until the message on top of head disappears. Alternatively use 1 ability then hit Surge.
    • Hold Still Stun: When it's 2 attacks away, I'd use Anticipate and just run around whilst I DPS. Then I'd use Res after the auto comes. Now this was VERY tricky for beginners!

    • Thoughts: This phase is an introduction of the 2 core mechanics; Uppercut + hold still. Even at my stage, I can DPS the mechanics.

    • Difficulty: 4/10

    Phase 2

    • General Strategy: Move around and use thresholds while making sure neither you nor Telos touch the Black Beam. Try to end phase with high adrenaline + brew back up to full HP + Tendrils was not recent.
    • Black Beam: It always spawns on Telos, but it's very tricky to have to move all the way around.
    • Magic Onslaught: Keep myself in the beam. If the bar is less than half, Devotion. Otherwise Debilitate first then Devotion after. Reflect is an emergency backup as full to last stack can hit 4k+ through prayer!
    • Virus: Just go to beam quickly or stand near it so I'm prepared.

    • Thoughts: Really all about moving around and keeping Telos away from the beam as it would reduce DPS a ton. Mechanics aren't too severely punishing.

    • Difficulty: 6/10

    Phase 3

    • General Strategy: Start going to corner then 1-2 Thresholds + build back to 100% Adrenaline and get into the Red Beam then Onslaught w/ Excalibur + Dreadnips. When Uppercut occurs OR at ~3k HP, I end it. Finish it off with thresholds via Limitless.
    • Golems: I like to kill golems to ensure the nuke doesn't happen as they can be 1-shotted.
    • Red Beam: It's a nightmare when Telos touches the Red beam even for 2 seconds. I tend to move away from Red beam afterwards in case a hold still or uppercut causes him to touch the beam.
    • Nuke Attack: Okay this is the worst of all on this phase. At higher enrages 2 golems or even a few seconds of Telos in the beam already causes this. Don't clear it fast, get hit by multiple 5k-8k nukes. Reflect would've blown back some dmg but often times I'd end up under 50% adren.

    • Thoughts: This phase is all about DPS or else get nuked. It's very hard to just force the bar to never go to the right as it's almost a surefire trip to Death's Office. That's why it's fast if I can execute my Onslaught + finishing off with thresholds.

    • Difficulty: 8/10

    Phase 4

    • General Strategy: Pay attention to each mechanic. Try to stun as often as possible. Reflect + res (if available) inside every font. Tag Volcanic golem with Ice Barrage. Clear Golems with Detonate.
    • Anima Bomb: Debilitate is the best bet. Otherwise Res but Hold Still comes after that anyways.
    • So Much Power: Currently the deadliest mechanic. Occurs on the 2nd font almost all the time. Disruption shield is the best way to stop but often times gets sniped by nearby golems or an auto from Telos. Shield dome is a decent alternative until I think 1k?
    • Insta-kill. Staying within the circle is easy for the most part although there are some screwups.

    • Thoughts: This phase focuses a lot on avoiding or stopping So Much Power attack. Then you have the Volcanic Golems who can stun you and mess up your timing. The rotations are difficult to master at as higher enrages, killing these golems in fonts whilst dealing with telos is no easy task.

    • Difficulty: 10/10

    Phase 5

    • General Strategy: Go to Green Beam. Position yourself 3 squares if on the sides. Then Reflect + revenge + detonate/tsunami to clear golems lined up. Stun rotations until beam swap + falling rock. Onslaught when the coast is clear.
    • Falling Rocks: 5x5 radius so move at least 2 squares. Or else reflect to tank it.
    • Golems: Placement is by far the most difficult part. Especially on back beam + volcanic golems. Should be 3 squares on side-beams then AoE ultimate/threshold to wipe out.
    • Virus: Barricade helps a ton to stop some dmg. I would try to diagonally surge beam-beam.
    • Instakill: Immortality. Then Sunshine to DPS if under 60k or else deal with Golems while protect Melee.
    • Thoughts: Lining up golems and setting up is the hardest part. If you're late setting up, you're bound to get killed. A lot of times I would not make it to this phase but when I make it, I succeed a lot unless I didn't set up properly or ran out of food.
    • Difficulty: 9/10

Average kill time: Lower enrage: 7 mins, Pushing: 8-9 mins

    Perspective of Telos

Overall Telos is more of a mechanic-focused boss. It really taught me that making even the slightest mistakes can result in a trip to Death's Office. This is especially true at 300%+ enrage! I tend to recognize which mechanical rotation is coming next. Though sometimes I get thrown off-guard and when that happens, improvising is hard. Telos is one of those bosses where you really gotta follow a specific rotation or else you aren't going to get the kill let alone a speed kill. Also, when phases have multiple active mechanics, this is where it becomes tricky (ie Golems + SMP).

I've seen people who are pro at Telos and they have far better strategies. After all Telos is the hardest boss for a reason. It has a VERY long learning curve behind this. You will not be able to pick up everything a guide says no matter how good it is. Also, I tend to make a lot of "mental mistakes" where I'd normally know what I should've done but I did it because I panicked or I hit the wrong keybind. This is one reason why I cannot consistently streak just yet.

    Noob Advice?

I can't really give tips for noobs but here's what I did progressively.

    • Blindly walk yourself through a couple of 0% enrage kills and see how it goes.
    • Watch out for the Hold Still attack as this requires you to prepare in advance to Res the massive hit. This is the deadliest hit for beginners.
    • At first I'd put food in mouth but as time went along, avoid the typeless damage and you should not eat.
    • Memorize the mechanical rotations from A-B-C-D so you know in advance if you're getting a dangerous mechanic.
    • Instead of pushing enrage all the time, I'd do 100%/150%/200% practice to see the mechanics more. Pushing is a way to let you be aware of mechanics but often times it leads to a lot of failed kills + rage. Practice on mid-enrage is one of the best ways because if you can't avoid the typeless damage or take care of mechanics at this point, there's no chance you'd survive this mechanic at higher enrage.
    • Little by little add in strategies to your arsenal. Remember, you're not gonna pick up on everything a guide says because it's difficult for a reason. Do what you're more comfortable with at first.
    • Try to perfect kills at a certain enrage because perfection is VERY important with Telos.
    • It will take a VERY long time to learn Telos so patience + perseverance is the KEY. I don't expect to streak anytime soon just yet tbh.
    • Panic is hard to avoid but must be avoided/reduced or else you won't be able to focus on what's next.

    Future Plans

I think I've done enough Telos for now. I grinded this non-stop for 2 weeks on/off stream (see my Stream Highlights). I need a break from this and if I want to start streaking, I would have to either learn full manual, get T99 Prayer/SoS, use Nihil + Flasks, etc. But I'm a bit burned out for now. Overall I learned a lot and I still have A LOT of learning left.

What was the highest enrage you Redditors have reached? And what is holding you back from doing more? Just curious on other ppl's thoughts on Telos.

Hotfix: Sentinel and Trapper outfits now reclaimable via Diango's dialogue

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 06:00 AM PST

As DXPW is upcoming we want to make sure you can access the Sentinel and Trapper outfits. We can't make the complete fix without rebooting the game however you'll now be able to reclaim any unlocked pieces by speaking to Diango directly in Draynor through his dialogue rather than the storage retrieval menu.Apologies for any inconvenience, we'll look to push the full fix in due course.

Keep all objects and details in the world examinable

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 09:27 AM PST

I've noticed with new areas, and most recently at the priff waterfall, that lots of stuff isn't examinable.

What makes runescape feel like runescape and alive/an actual world is that things in-game have examine options.

Please stop cutting corners and make things examinable. Feels so empty without that.

They used to be 35 bars and 125 ore, but now they're both stone spirits which is a bad drop on its own, so having two of the same bad drop feels even worse

What is with Jagex using Twitter so much?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 07:22 PM PST

It's getting stupid, they won't talk about things on their livestream because it's already been addressed on Twitter, they announce sales on Twitter but nowhere else, if you want any account help it seems the best place to go is Twitter.

It's as if they run a shit tier mobile game and don't have a website to announce any of this stuff and if you don't follow them on twitter or pay incredibly close attention to people on this sub relaying the information on their behalf you miss out.
