Is anyone else sad that we didn't have the annual data stream in 2019?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 01:42 PM PST

I very much look forward to seeing what people have accomplished, I love seeing high numbers and what crazy kill counts people have for different things.

Wish we had boss and slayer high scores so we didn't need to rely on data streams and even at that we have to hope a data stream even happens.

I just love seeing what people put their effort into when they log on Runescape. Blows my mind that people have high kill counts for certain things and i love seeing it

    Don't Abandon Forum Pictures

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 03:04 PM PST

Jagex has already ditched and given up on the clan banner integration, so if your clan colors were set to something when the crash happened, they're like that forever now. Apparently, with the photo booth forum integration crashing, Jagex plans to just abandon it and remove the feature.

Why? Why give up and abandon it? Things like this are expected when the system was built on Java and Runescape is transitioning to NXT - Are you just going to delete anything that was built in Java and doesn't work anymore? That's such a destructive mindset to take, especially for something as self-expressive as a forum avatar. Nevermind if you lose membership, you've now lost your profile and can't get it back. New subscriptions don't get that option either. Soon the forums will be dominated by pictureless comments, and at that point, why have them? It'll invariably turn the forums in to even less of an appealing place.

Either fix things and actually maintain your game and website, or just erase the forums. That's what I say, personally. It's unfathomable that this is the route Jagex wants to take.

What kind of content do you most want right now?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 07:36 AM PST

As always, the playerbase is pretty mixed on what they want most in the game. What kind of stuff do you guys most look forward to though?

As a high level player with nearly all my skills in the 90s and beyond, I left a while back because I felt there wasn't much for me to do besides just go for 99s or boss.

For me, this is what keeps me coming back:

    • New Skills
    • Elite Dungeons / Other Group bossing areas: It's not a single player game. The move towards solo and duo bossing made me lose interest in high level combat in this game a while back, just as it made me lose interest in OSRS. I only like bosses that I can fight with 3+ people, ideally having a higher max player limit of like 6, or just no limit at all.
    • 120 Skill expansions: If feels good to be able to go back to a skill when I'm 90+ and have a bunch of stuff I can't just sip a potion to access. I'd like most or all skills to be expanded to 120. It just feels like the natural next step to making skilling feel useful besides just making it profitable in the high levels.
    • Skilling reworks: a lot of skills I avoided for quite some time until reworks. Mining I dreaded getting past 80 for a quest, and never touched it beyond that. Now with the rework I enjoyed training it to 90 and beyond. The same goes for runecrafting. I feel like Woodcutting, Firemaking, Fletching, and Construction could all use reworks in some way or another.
    • Large Area expansions: Anachronia is a great example. It's a whole new area that feels like there's a variety of skilling and combat to do there with a good deal of depth. I'd love for some existing areas to also get reworked, like the whole Feldip Hills area. It feels like it's been largely the same (useless) for the better part of a decade now, and I'd love to this and more areas get pumped full of lots of content like Anachronia got.

Wanted to share with you all

May anything you believe in bless RuneScape mobile. Is it perfect? No.

But does it allow me to play my lifelong favorite game (account created over 16 years ago, along with about 362 or so days of game time) where and when I want? Yes.

My girlfriend just gave birth to our son 2 days ago, and I'm able to enjoy some light on-the-go Woodcutting at Menaphos for some non-optimal rep/exp grind / hoping for the pet/HSR through Seren spirit, all while being able to keep an eye on the 2 loves of my life in their hospital room.

    My most sincere thanks, Jagex.

Edit : I'm not throwing the whole f***ing day on my phone either. I'm barely playing an hour a day in bits of 5-10 minutes sessions while the girlfriend and baby are recovering / sleeping.

Of course, I'm enjoying and savoring the moments that they are awake and need my help and support. That being said, there are still times when a little bit of RuneScape can be enjoyed too.

    MTX Letter to Jagex

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 07:14 PM PST

    Dear Jagex,

The last stream was very disappointing, it actually made me turn off the game for the rest of the day. It was along the lines of "That new skill we talked about isn't ready and we still can't give you a release date. Those new bosses in GDW3 we have in the works... we haven't started dev on it yet. That new quest that's coming... we haven't started it either. But we have a release next week from a game jam project PVM folks will love. It wasn't planned content, just something a couple devs spent 2 weeks on.

Most importantly we have this new promotion in TH that you all will love. We are so excited for all the new things we have planned for TH!!!"

We get it, TH brings in a ton of money so it's not going anywhere. Please stop spending resources on adding new content to TH and instead focus on game content. It is so demoralizing seeing patch week filled with text changes and bug fixes from the previous week. I try to stay optimistic but then you dropped the bomb that dev hasn't started for the new content, there is no ETA on when they will even start let alone be released and there is no roadmap for what is coming.

In our eyes the content is maybe coming at some undetermined date in the future, possibly. But you are quick to point out a new TH promo is here.

For people like me there is nothing you can do to TH to have me spend real life money. I don't care about any new TH promos you have coming. I will continue using my free daily keys so you can meet your engagement metrics.

Please use all of that TH time, money and energy on getting the content you said was coming out the door bug free.

    Thank you.

After 3,000 Vindicta kills.... I'm finally free.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 10:57 AM PST

What areas do you most want some fresh content for?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 11:22 AM PST

    For me its:

    Gu'Tanoth / Oo'Glog / Feldip Hills:

    • The Spas are now outclassed by Anachronia ones and should be reworked. The GWD pool was useful back when GWD was relevant, so many change it to being relevant in a few more boss related areas or just making everything in Feldip Hills not aggressive as well.
    • Teleports tied to resources in the area, or feldip achievement diary
    • Big game hunter with giant chompy birds to give parts to a magic version of the Hexhunter Bow / Terrasaur Maul (it seems like a lot of stuff from Anachronia was based off Feldip Hills, like spas and the frogs, so might as well have it go both ways)
    • graphical overhaul at least for Gu'Tanoth

    Dorgesh Kaan:

    • Replacing lightbulbs should be a high apm method of training firemaking. Much faster than bonfires, but also click intensive.
    • Improve the agility course
    • Add another invention work bench, maybe even a free power machine hotspot you can use when you do all the Goblin Quests
    • Construction minigame?
    • Goblin Cooking?

    Yu'Biusk:

This place looks really cool and its a shame you only go for quests.

    • Arena from the quest could be a combat minigame, perhaps a weekly
    • The place looks like it's been ravaged by chemical weapons, so perhaps some new weapons themed after that could be a thing? Maybe a weapon that utilizes potion bombs, or a weapon that uses herblore? Some resources to make them could be gathered from the toxic waste through fishing or hunter or something.
    • Portal to here in Gu'Tanoth after final goblin quest
