PSA: You're all killing Raksha wrong. You need to use wilderness sword.

Hot take: Raksha is a horrible boss

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 11:37 AM PST

To begin with, I want to know what fantasy world Jagex lives in where this boss is "between rax and telos difficulty" and "t80 gear minimum recommended".

I am a maxed player with much PvM experience including things such as Warden at Telos. I have full t92 gear. Yet, I have died upwards of 50 times today with no hope in sight.

Besides the mechanics every 4 attacks or so this boss is basically a prayer flick simulator. Which I wouldn't mind if every time you missed a flick it didn't hit you for 5k.

Jagex needs to understand that not everyone is like Evil Lucario and a god at prayer flicking. The vast majority of players will miss flicks every so often and get smacked for 5k+. Its untenable really, because there isn't much of a strategy to abate that besides to 'get better'.

Once again, this boss is currently only doable by the top 0.1%. Which, if it was marketed that way, might not have been an issue, but considering it was marketed as a mid to high tier boss its unacceptable.

Jagex, I really hope you can justify this because its pretty bad.

Also, if this is a top 0.1% boss, the rewards are absolutely not worth it.

Greater barge bugged? only first hit of bleed doing full damage, other 3 doing half

    raksha pet 12kc wazzy

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 07:05 AM PST

If I wanted prayer flicking to be the primary mechanic in bossing I’d go play osrs.

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 01:32 PM PST

It's not a difficult or rewarding mechanic, just tedious, boring and lazy

The other mechanics in this boss have been a lot more fun to learn/deal with, but this boss is not one I'll return to after I get pet lol

    who's idea was greater chain?

Isn't Greater Ricochet a bit too ridiculous?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 11:01 AM PST

Even if we ignore the fact that mage is apparently the weakest combat style in terms of dps right now, even with 4taa, Range just got a basic ability Greater Ricochet that does 80%-400% damage (most of the time all to a single target if fighting bosses, and even against multiple enemies it still does that much damage, just over more targets, so it's not really conditional damage like flanking).

80%-400% is on average 240%, which is only slightly less than the Wild magic variants' average of 265%, but Ricochet has only half the cooldown and gains about 10% adrenaline instead of using 15%. This effectively makes Greater Ricochet about twice as powerful as Wild Magic (already one of the best abilities for dps), which is absolutely ridiculous for a basic ability. If it did something interesting or required skill like Greater Barge then perhaps it'd be understandable, but there's absolutely no skill involved in using this ability.

Just some back of the envelope numbers. Ricochet minus a 157% ability you would have used instead is 145.8% ability damage on average. Ricochet can be used 6 times in one minute, giving you 1093.5% extra ability damage over the course of 1 minute if you assume half of them were used under Death Swiftness (you can actually use 4 with PF). This is higher than the damage boost an entire ZGS spec provides (if you assume you do a rotation with 2000% ability damage during the spec, and take 25% of that which is 500%, then adding 37.5*11=412.5 from the bleed), but instead of costing 45% adrenaline (which is a significant cost due to the dps lost from using 2-3 less thresholds), actually will gain you about 60% adrenaline every minute. This is by far the most powerful ability they've ever released bar maybe Berserk/Sunshine/Death's Swiftness.

Not to mention Greater Ricochet does 7 hits which is absolutely insane for proccing Bakriminel bolts, Cinderbanes etc. as well as bypassing the damage cap.

Greater Chain while decent if you're attacking a lot of enemies, is absolutely pathetic in comparison in most high end PvM situations.

I'm not sure what should be done, but an easy fix would be not make it stack with Caroming for single target damage calculation if it fails to find the maximum number of targets. Basically this means Caroming will still stack with Greater Ricochet for multiple targets like the normal Ricochet does, but the number of missed targets that can add to the single target damage calculation is capped to 2.

    This boss's drops....

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 09:57 AM PST

Hot Take: If you're struggling at Raksha using Melee, perhaps using the other styles would be better for you?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 03:02 PM PST

Jagex doesn't need to reduce attack speed, damage, or tick rate if that's meant to happen with Melee.

Remember you're in melee distance, and thus, open to more damage, that's the trade-off for the DPS Bursts and not everyone is an expert, it takes lots of practice and understanding to get down and all of you are still probably learning.

Are you aware Araxxor is faster with Melee but safer with Ranged? Why do you think all of us suggest learners to, well, learn Araxxor with ranged and then switch to Melee when they're more prolific at the boss...

Same with Raksha here. If you're struggling with Melee, perhaps you have to adapt to the boss using other styles and not the other way around.

However, reducing the timer on the stuns would be beneficial, maybe to 2-3 Seconds.
