RuneScape RS3 is getting 50,000 active at peak and 20% of those players are coming from steam. This is pretty insane to see. Lets hope that they continue to stick around.

12 years later at lvl 119, I finally killed Jad

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 10:20 AM PDT

Yes, feel free to laugh it up. I have sporadically played this game for 12 years, and am only at base level 80 in all stats. Yesterday and today I decided to finally knuckle up and try to beat Jad. I had never really tried before because I couldn't sit and fight through all the waves (pretty bad adhd) but I finally said "JUST DO IT". Died at Jad on 1st attempt, and then switched to a range strategy for Jad and beat him the second time!! I'm super pumped about this and none of my friends play RuneScape so I had to post here haha

Why doesn't anyone seem to have a problem with the TH rares?

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 01:45 PM PDT

For all the (justifiable) outrage over MTX that has occurred, why doesn't anyone ever mention the fact that there are literal rares in the form of override tokens. TH items shouldn't be discontinued and worth billions. That, to me, is disgusting. Re-release zombie walk override and every other ridiculously rare override featured on TH.

    Abyss scammers

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 07:17 AM PDT

If you're training in the abyss on monsters and someone comes up to you giving you advice and offers to help.. don't take it.. I got scammed for pretty much my whole bank because I thought he was trying to help since I just came back to the game and instead he lured me to the wilderness and I lost all my stuff :/

It's very demotivating to spend 3+ hours on a task, just for it to reset minutes from completion because your bond ran out. It's already a grind, and an oversight like this is more than a bit ridiculous.

Is this game worth playing casually.

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 06:28 AM PDT

I've been looking for a game to play occasionally when i have nothing better to do that is a real time sink. I was wondering if Runescape can be played casually, or if it would take a commitment to do anything.

F2P Combat Guide for Ironman and Newcomers!! :D

    Hey guys!

Just spent over two weeks creating this F2P Combat guides that targets ironman and newcomers to the game since the Steam realese!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkDAyFAk4m4&t=1s&ab_channel=Lemorange

    This guide includes:

    • What weapons, armour and accessories to use and how to obtain them!
    • Variety of training methods for each skill, or the best method available
    • Takes into account monsters with good LOOT and NO LOOT. Compare banking vs not banking etc.

    First Guide!

Sorry I had colour coded everything but the transfer from docs to this removed colours </3 TEXT FOR THE RANGE GUIDE AS FOLLOWS!

    Range

    Equipment:

Fletch your own weapons and ammunition or obtain from:
    • Bloodpact quest (Tier 6 Kayle's Chargebow (Or upgrading to Tier 10 Iron and Tier 20 Steel crossbows, with the corresponding bolts for the fastest attack speed)
    • Lowe's Archery Emporium (Tier 30 Maple shortbow and Mithril arrows)
    • Lowe's Archery Emporium (Tier 40 Yew shortbow and Adamant arrows)
    • Dungeoneering (Maple shieldbow (sighted) (Tier 45 Maple shieldbow and Rune arrows, Requires attaching a shieldbow sight(10,000 Dungeoneering tokens, Requires 45 Range, 45 Defence and 45 Dungeoneering to use) to a Maple shieldbow)
    • Valaine's Shop of Champions (Tier 50 Magic shortbow and Rune arrows, Champions guild west of Varrock lodestone, requires Dragon Slayer quest)
    • Dungeoneering (Magic shieldbow (sighted) (Tier 55 Magic shieldbow and Rune arrows, Requires attaching a Shieldbow sight (10,000 Dungeoneering tokens, Requires 55 Range, 55 Defence and 45 Dungeoneering to use) to a Magic shieldbow)
    • Crossbow Shop (Dwarven Mine) (Tier 30 Mithril dual wield crossbows and Mithril bolts)
    • Crossbow Shop (Dwarven Mine) (Tier 40 Adamant dual wield crossbows Adamant bolts)
    • Valaine's Shop of Champions (Tier 50 Rune dual wield crossbows and Rune bolts, Champions guild west of Varrock lodestone, requires Dragon Slayer quest)
    • Dungeoneering (Tier 55 Gravite Weaponry) Requires 45 Dungeoneering to buy and 55 Range to wield.

The main hand weapons cost 40,000 Dungeoneering tokens and the off-hand weapons cost 20,000 tokens. Degradable and repaired with gold or gold and Dungeoneering. Cheaper to buy 2handed weapons than buying dual wield weapons.

    1. I only suggest buying Gravite if you do not plan on upgrading to Pay-To-Play at a later date as they are very costly and the tokens can go to better items in Pay-To-Play.
    2. Arrow and bolt supplies are low at these shops, it is beneficial to fletch your own if you have the relevant fletching level.
    3. Maple and Magic shieldbow (sighted) provide the longest attack range of 9 tiles away as well giving the user access to defence abilities that help with survival and healing.
    4. It is more ammo conseverative to use a shortbow and arrows, rather than crossbow and bolts, as the required fletching level for arrows is much lower than bolts!

Craft your Armour or obtain via:
    1. You don't need the Range level of 10, 20, 30 or 50 for these armours. But you do need the defence level of 10, 20, 30 or 50 respectively.
    • Lowe's Archery Emporium (Tier 10 Hard Leather Armour)
    • Lowe's Archery Emporium (Tier 20 Studded Armour)
    • Lowe's Archery Emporium (Tier 30 Carapace)
    • Lowe's Archery Emporium (Tier 40 Green Dragonhide Armour)
    • Valaine's Shop of Champions (Tier 50 Blue Dragonhide Armour, Champions guild west of Varrock lodestone, requires Dragon Slayer quest)

    Accessories and Dungeoneering:

    • Amulet of Defence +8 Range bonus (Requires 31 Crafting and 27 Magic to make, or dropped from Corpse Archers, Corpse Mages or Skoblin)
    • Farsight Quick Shot necklace +13 Range bonus (Requires 30 Range and 30 Dungeoneering to purchase for 6,500 Dungeoneering tokens)
    • Amulet of Accuracy +16 Range bonus (Obtained from the quest Imp Catcher)
    • Farsight Snap Shot necklace +24 Range bonus (Requires 50 Range and 50 Dungeoneering to purchase for 15,500 Dungeoneering tokens)
    • Team Cape +1 Range bonus (Bought via cape merchants throughout the Wilderness)
    • Arrowstorm drape +1.5 Range bonus (Dropped from Troll shamans)
    • Explorer's ring 3 +5 Range bonus (Require Completion of Lumbridge Medium Tasks)

Another interesting Essence of Finality interaction: Strykebow Spec

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 09:58 AM PDT

Hey all, while messing around further with Special Attacks and Essence of Finality, I found that, despite my initial hesitation, the Strykebow spec DOES work for other weapons while stored within the Essence of Finality.

    • So long as the Essence of Finality containing the Strykebow spec is worn during combat, you can swap to other necklace slot items freely and retain the damage being tracked.

    • If you swap weapons, the counter resets for damage being tracked/stored by the Essence of Finality, as expected per the regular Strykebow mechanics.

    • If you exit combat the damage tracked/stored resets as expected.

    • Only the Special Attack for the Strykebow and damage tracking/storage is gained by the Essence of Finality. This means the extra shot for 40% of the Stykebow's stored damage (every 15 abilities or 5 auto-attacks) is not gained, as it is a unique mechanic to the Strykebow itself.

This could mean that the Strykebow spec could be somewhat useful in encounters where constant damage is taken in larger chunks, or where the encounter is prolonged and uninterrupted combat.

The Strykebow spec uses 25% adrenaline, and will deal 35% (In PvM) of stored damage as a damage-over-time bleed that hits once every 0.6 seconds for a total of 5 hits. In PvP the Strykebow spec instead deals 50% of stored damage, but will not be possible to use in PvP situations from the Essence of Finality, per the necklace's restrictions.

This also means you can finally use the Strykebow spec with your augmented Strykebow properly again (since it has been broken for ages now), if you really, really wanted to... for some reason.

See the wiki page for more info on how damage is tracked/stored: https://runescape.wiki/w/Strykebow

EDIT: I have uploaded the following unlisted YT video to show the special attack while wielding a Wyvern Xbow - https://youtu.be/c8ifBKHDpUk
