    :edit: man this post exploded over night anyways I find it sad how so many people want such a little change but yet I know there's no way that anyone high up is going to listen. I have a feeling that unless something drastic happenes this game isn't gonna last many more years :/

    Let's talk about Brooch of the Gods

    At the moment item is way too expensive for what it does.


    If you look at other skilling items you'll realize how underwhelming it is.

    GotE is much cheaper (around 1/2 of Brooch) and provides WAY more - Seren Spirits, unique unlimited teleports, acts as a mega porter and halves your skilling prayer drain. It has pretty much zero contest in neck slot (bar Necklace of Shadows and charged Glory, but these are ignorable). GotE literally changes the way you play the game

    Skilling offhands are much cheaper (1/10 of Brooch) and they have much better ROI. Off-hand is also very uncontested slot, so you don't lose out on anything when using them.

    Meanwhile the brooch:

    • Makes some "distraction" skilling procs a tiny bit better. If you look at the list you'll realize that it's pretty much worthless

    • Stores very limited amount of empty urns. Partially filled urns and Urn Enhancer still litter your inventory/bank

    • Whack-a-mole for lame scavenging 4. Proc rate is around 4-5 pph. To compare, Scav 4 goes up to 120 pph, depending on what you kill, and doesn't require extra interaction.

    • Buffs Portables. This sucks up majority of the item's power budget

    • Directly competes with Pocket Slot items that are situationally superior (Skull, Scrimshaws).


    Suggested changes:

    • Make the "Portable Effect" work everywhere and make it stack with portables themselves. That way it's current power budget is unchanged but it won't discriminate Ironmen or people who don't do portables anymore.

    • Remove the "Whack-A-Mole" and move the component procs to the activities it buffs. For example finishing Ceremonial Sword could give you mix of 20 Uncommon Components, participating in Deep Sea D&D could give you 10, Time Sprite 2. The buff it already provides is abysmal and people would have incentive to change the way they play instead of having "Seren Spirit but worse"

    • Make it store partially filled Urns as well as Urn Enhancer

    • Move it to quiver slot

    Obviously, the players who abused the bug yesterday are in the wrong, to get that out of the way.

    But this is now the second huge bug/exploit on a MTX promo in the past few months. On top of the infamous "alt shadow gem farming" and "purple fireworks" promotion exploits. Game integrity is a joke with how this keeps happening to result in huge influx of gold and XP.

    For once, RS3 looks to be in the midst of a resurgence due to new players on Steam. Please don't fuck this up by making game breaking MTX bugs.

    The lack of QA testing has been a massive bane for Runescape for...gods...well over a decade at this point. Many players (myself included) have straight up quit the game because of the lack of QA, the bugginess of most updates, and Jagex's general attitude towards bugs and their perchance for player-blaming.

    Now, just because I quit doesn't mean I have ill-will towards Runescape. I still love the game and I want to see it do well. But at the same time, I don't want to dedicate time into a game that has these kinds of issues. Now imagine all of the new players who don't have the kind of nostalgia I have for the game. If the game plays poorly, or there are massive game-breaking issues, they are going to be turned off and simply move on. After all, they have not made the same kind of investment into the game many of us have.

    I mean, I realize that you're really just looking to exploit fiscally irresponsible whales, seeing as they generate most of your income, but at the same time, whales stay with a game longer if the game actually works (and not banning them for being whales usually helps too). Think of it as...a long term investment?

    I know I'm preaching to the choir here, and I really doubt I'm saying anything ground-breaking or revolutionary here, but the disorganization frequently displayed by Jagex is extremely disheartening. Please don't blow the great opportunity you guys have created for yourselves.

    There is actually no reason for the duel arena to exist. Zero. If you actually go there to enjoy duels instead of some open space around the GE, please speak up and defend it.

    I don't even think there is a single legitimate player out there in our active player base that goes there for casual fights. So that would make the place a hotzone that's 100% exclusive to stakers and RWTers.

    Concept Art Work

    Some of the concept work we do doesn't get shown out of the team and some is used to inspire the next phase of production. Everything tends to follow a rule-set/style to keep the theme consistent across artefacts/matterials.

    General Archaeology

    • Anachronia Map - Used as a test to see if we can do new styles of maps in the game.
    • Matterials | Artefacts | Relics - Based upon a description or mood text provided to us.
    • Dig Site Banner - Hard to decide on a location since the dig site is segmented.
    • Mr. Mordaut - Another test for a more hand-painted render of an image.
    • Orthen Entrance Sketches - Goal was to make them feel more established with a camp set-up.
    • Potions & Recipe Tablets - Most of is just a recolor which we had to be careful to not make them to similar.
    • Rex Construction - Different angles for the 3D artists. More stylized to fit the game's style and tech constraints.
    • Skilling offhands - Difficult to design/imply all of its functionalities into a small item.

    Site Locations

    • Vault of Varanus - Went through different names.
      • Assets - 3D artist take a lot of liberty rather than replicate the concept art exactly, which we encourage.
    • Observatory Outpost Interior - Inspired by the 1900s surgical theatres.
      • Sketches - Sketches of the interactable stuff in-game which need to readable so players are drawn to it.
      • Assets - Took things we already did and re-purposed them in-game.
    • Moksha Ritual Site - Wanted to go mystic and cozy so it felt like a past-time area.
      • Entrance - Used paint overs on a screenshot to quickly establish different ideas.
      • Assets | Set Dressing - More fun and relaxing to create.
    • Xolo City - Spent a long time discussing what this city would look like and settled on a Mayan gold city.
      • Temples - They have no value of gold and use it just because they have a lot of it.

    3D Art

    Start with white boxes to quickly flesh out how the area looks like, the scale, and the feel and then input or modify existing assets and create news ones to fill it in. We also have a suit of assets with cubes/letters to quickly map ideas very fast and try out different idea very quickly and reiterate on it. Keeping art simple at the beginning allows you to change quickly.

    • Vault of Varanus - Had to make sure the walls weren't too tall.
    • Observatory Outpost - Lighting can make a significant difference to an environment.
    • Moksha Ritual Site - Made it a cozy area, and added some height on the outside walls.
    • Xolo City - It feels really lush and nice to be in here despite it being flat.

    Audio Work

    Used The Forgotten City Orthen track as a basis to create newer tracks to unify everything. We also used art/lore to help expand upon each track. Early on in production I also wanted to record a vocalist and we did. She was a mezzo-soprano and also sang a made-up language on the spot.

    Suggestion: Add information about the Holiday 2020 Event in Community or Upgrades & Extras with a teleport to the Draynor Hallloween area. This would probably help the new players and give them the ability to instantly jump into the action.

    Finished my 2nd Khopesh today. Was quite a long haul doing 813 kills & 35 phylacs (i used 813 bought keys and got some dropped keys along the way). Coin drops are not included in loot as i didnt keep track of them. Also i did about 48 kills/hr. I seem to have made about 7,7m profit/hr in common loot
