Why does it require multiple items on the ground in order to open the loot interface? Could it be made possible to open the interface with only 1 item on the ground?

Low effort meme because I'm so tired of arguing with elitists

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 03:18 PM PDT

No, Jagex shouldn't be focusing the majority of their efforts on low level content.

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 07:31 AM PDT

Recently there have been a few posts about how high-level, end-game players are just a bunch of losers who spend too much time playing and that development should be focused on the early to mid game rather than updates that affect "1% of players". Posts like these usually talk about how everyone who misses frequent updates now just has the "wrong mindset" about what the game should be. I think there's some pretty major flaws with both of these arguments.

    1. Players focused on progression will spend the majority of the time in the late game(85+ skills, GWD2+). Players not focused on progression don't care.

The early-mid game is pretty fleshed out for people looking to plow through it. I see that posts going against the efficiency mindset talk about others imposing the mindset onto them but I just don't see that. I see people offer advice like "there's a better way to do that if you'd like" but it seems incredibly rare for people be overtly toxic about it in game. It can be complex game, sorry for trying to help? It just seems like people who complain about the early game being to slow or boring just might not be fit for an MMO, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's becoming a dated format and just isn't for everyone. I'm not saying the early-mid game shouldn't be improved, but the idea that "majority of effort should be on keeping new players therefore early game" is dumb. That's the mindset of a freemium mobile game.

    1. Most of the outrage stems from the amount of content, not the type.

We get fewer and fewer updates each year with more and more MTX at the forefront. Jagex is seeing record profits and the game feels stagnant at times. One of the biggest things about RuneScape, historically, is how constantly the game was updated. A constantly evolving, player driven landscape. We've seen in the past that it was possible for the game to seemingly always move forward, and that just doesn't happen anymore. It can feel worse to have something and lose it than it does to never have it. Most events are recycled currency events, and rarely do we see more than 1 content update each month from a company pulling hundreds of millions in revenue.

    1. Pushing the endgame further makes the midgame better.

I cant put it much better than this comment. Just like to add that adding mechanics for the endgame that build off the early mid game have been very good for the economy. If not for invention, I'd think that much of GWD1 would be nearing high alch value by now, but the endgame perks for invention keep demand high. This keeps early-mid game content both profitable and makes it more accessible. Adding alchemical hydrix and onyx makes clues and reapers more useful.

    1. Making new methods for lower players doesn't make the people who play this game as their life go away. Also botting is a thing.

If a method was created that allows low level f2p players to make 5m/hr then not only would everyone playing 18 hours a day probably altscape the method to death, but bots would jump on it further nuking the profitability to match the current methods we already have once prices stabilize.

    1. Slightly unrelated but still relevant: The idea of GE trades above 2.147b

I'd like to reiterate something i left a comment on a few weeks ago regarding the price manip/max cash GE drama (another update around the dreaded 1%!):

BiS items on release (and even some still, like the mega rare hero items, new dyes on release) can go far above max cash. Someone without the connections or know-how on selling these items above max cash can get hosed by selling it for 2.147B on the GE. You might say "boo hoo losing a few hundred mil when you just got max cash" but its still valid. Money is money and either by the hard work of grinding out thousands of clues or 1kc blightbound on day 1 that item should go to the highest bidder. This was the decision made when the game moved to GE, so there's no reason that this shouldn't apply to every item. They all need to be on the GE(or some alternate "platiunum token exchange" or whatever) even if that means it goes above max cash.

I'm not under the impression that extending the stack limit is an easy job, but I think that long term it is important to address.

TLDR; I'm whining about the whining about the whining. Thank you for attending my ted talk.

If 4taa is just something Jagex is keeping around to make mage unique and not a ranged clone, then they should take a serious look at other MMORPGS and see how its developers design unique classes.

RS Mobile gripe 1: right clicking on mobile is haaaaard!

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 11:32 AM PDT

It's difficult to right click things on mobile. You have to hold your finger on it perfectly still which depending on your phone's touch resolution and frame rate may be either mildly difficult or impossible. Even if you do pull it off it takes a whole second to do a right click which is a bummer if you're trying to loot stuff while slaying.

It'd be neat if jagex could create something like the "deadzone" on a joystick for touch controls, so that moving less than a certain number of pixels registers as a tap-and-hold and not a drag.

But even simpler would be to just implement one-button gameplay. Please do this Jagex.

Are you allowed to ask questions on this sub?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 12:30 AM PDT

I would assume that's what a subreddit is for, but every question asked gets rapidly downvoted by some people so others don't even get to see it; often leading to no or unsure answers.

Why is this? Should you ask questions somewhere else?

[BUG] Slider puzzles dont always get marked as complete when closed

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 09:13 AM PDT

i cant be the only one encountering this. i complete a slider puzzle for, say, an elite clue, i close it expecting it to turn into either a casket or the next clue, nothing happens, i re-open it and close it, then it finally turns into the casket/clue. its roughly a 50% chance of this happening from my experiences

I first played in 2005 and every time I thought I would quit runescape, I come back to it, whether it would be 1 year, 2 year, one time I came back after not paying for 6 years.

Edit: I'll be using the mobile version, the one in early access if that's important.

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 04:11 AM PDT

Jagex, how do you decide whether an interface is disabled during combat or not? There are a lot of interfaces that get disrupted by combat that really shouldn't.
