- OSRS community watching the RS3 drama.
- After all the controversy with TH, they really have this as the next promo? Yikes.
- Keep your oddments until it is safe to use them
- Jagex you should balance out the high budget hero-level quests with some simple and entertaining local, adventurer level quests. Not everything needs to be about the world guardian.
- Exploited this money maker for 28 shields
- My opinion on Jagex's statement.
- My access to the game has been temporarily revoked so heres a 4 minute death compilation
- imagine trying to nerf the worst combat style
- I can't be the only one who hates the look of the Crystal Mattock. It lacks the elegance of the other crystal tools.
- Why is this on the wiki?
- The real solution to pvm bugs.
- Jaggy care so much about the game that they start a promotion that shits out GP, XP and resources and can be farmed on ANY new account right after banning people for "exploit". KEKW
- PSA: Today is a bank holiday in the UK
- Jagex - instead of punishing players for your own oversights, punish botters

Is Runescape breaking the Dutch gambling rules? Posted: 31 Aug 2020 06:41 AM PDT The Dutch government had a party 'De Kansspelautoriteit' investigate lootboxes in gaming. Their current rules state: "Loot boxes are prohibited under current laws and regulations if the items from the loot boxes can be traded." There are quite a few items from Treasure Hunter that can be traded. This investigation was done because: "Minors should not be exposed to games of chance: coming into contact with gambling when their brains are not yet fully grown often causes problems later in life." Yet when I make a account with the age of 13 years old I can buy keys without any issue. [link] [comments]

My opinion on Jagex's statement. Posted: 31 Aug 2020 07:55 AM PDT In regards to the TH exploit that resulted in bans from people: Mod Hooli states the following: "we do feel that the initial player bans were done in accordance with our policy on knowingly exploiting a bug or error (found here: https://www.runescape.com/game-guide/rules) Reading the article it says: "Players must not use or attempt to use any cheats or errors which they may find in our software." When looking up the definition of these terms it gives the following: "…. Is an error, flaw or fault in a computer program or system that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways" Now, let's take both promotions that were running at the time of the exploit: Promo 1: Loot Duels Promo 2: TH Keys on sale using oddments Both of the promotions were working as intended and therefore it shouldn't be classified as an error, flaw or fault in the system as they gave the result that you would expect from the promotions separately. I assume the oddment promotions are planned ahead and therefore the above situation should be classified as an unfortunate timing of events. Punishing players for this isn't the right thing to do. A more friendly way would have been to create a news post stating that it wasn't intended that these two specific promotions were running at the same time. You could also mention in the news post that if people encounter this or similar promotions at the same time in the future that they should not use it otherwise they could face consequences by getting banned and/or have their stuff removed. Keeping in mind that both promotions were working fine this shouldn't result in a ban of players or removal of items. Something else that isn't logic is the following: In the news post from Mod Poerkie he's stating the following: "There was no noticeable effect on either the economy or XP gained on the day as a result of the exploit due to the low volume of users who abused the exploit." According to Jagex there was no noticeable effect on the economy or XP gained yet you decide to ban people who did this. In that case you should ban all the people who have bought Treasure Hunter Keys using real-life money as they also generate a surplus amount of oddments. Since players who buy Treasure Hunter Keys with real-life money don't get banned, these players also shouldn't get banned. In the past there have been bugs and exploits that did cause an effect on the economy or XP gained and during those times no action was taken. Banning players while saying 'There was no noticeable effect on either the economy or XP gained on the day as a result of the exploit' doesn't make sense. To wrap this up: Removing one of the two promotions was the correct step to do. Banning people for a mistake that was made by running two promotions at the same time wasn't. Another action that wasn't correct is punishing players before this issue was reviewed internally. This is something you should have done afterwards. This should be seen as a lesson for both Jagex and the players. TLDR: Jagex should never have punished people for the mistake that was made. Making them even wait longer because of weekend / bank holiday makes it even worse. They should apologize and make an official statement that things like this won't be tolerated in the future. Let this be a lesson to Jagex and the players. [link] [comments]

The real solution to pvm bugs. Posted: 31 Aug 2020 10:25 AM PDT There's been so much talk about pvm bugs the only reasonable and feasible solution is just remove combat entirely, only the top 1% pvm as is, they can move onto other games and we can continue our skilling. [link] [comments]

Jagex - instead of punishing players for your own oversights, punish botters Posted: 31 Aug 2020 05:13 PM PDT Instead of looking into 1000 players who "abused" 2 intended mechanics your mtx team didn't test, please start banning bots. Some bots are so egregious, I can't believe they get away with it for so long. Right now, there is an anachronia agility course bot that has 165m xp. He consistently does a lap in 11m10s, which amounts to about 100k xp/hr. Yesterday alone, he gained 2.4m xp in agility. Which means he has consistently done the agility course for at least 24h IN A ROW, and you guys decide to go after people who got a few keys for free? Do you plan on banning that bot before it gets 200m agility xp and sells another 50 Double Surge Codexes, or do you plan on banning more people because they didn't buy your precious keys? If really you care about unfair advantages, maybe start looking into how bad botting really is. [link] [comments]
