Introducing Wisdom Exchange Wednesdays and Advice post flair

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 12:50 AM PDT

Hello everyone. This is a quick announcement of two new features.

    Wisdom Exchange Wednesdays

Inspired in part by recent discussions in the subreddit, we have decided to establish a new biweekly megathread: Wisdom Exchange Wednesday. This will run as a supplement to the popular ProTip Tuesday and Silly Question Sunday. As a hybrid of these existing two, Wisdom Exchange Wednesday is a place for those who seek and provide advice; both questions and protips are encouraged.

We would like to stress that questions are always welcome to be submitted as standalone posts with "Discussion" or "Advice" flair. Recurring megathreads are not meant as a replacement for individual question posts. Additionally, we ask that all users respect the Reddiquette and engage positively with other users, especially new players and all those who seek advice.

In related news, you can now easily access the list of past ProTip Tuesdays, Wisdom Exchange Wednesdays, and Silly Question Sundays from a "Recurring threads" drop-down menu found in the subreddit header in new Reddit.

The first Wisdom Exchange Wednesday runs on the 12th of August.

    Advice flair

Some of you have probably noticed the new "Advice" post flair we've been rolling out over the past couple of days. The flair is meant primarily for small individual question threads. This will help differentiate broader discussion posts from advice-seeking posts. We encourage all experienced players to browse and help out.

Remember that you can click on the flair name next to a post (and in the sidebar in new Reddit) and browse all posts of the same type.

Thank you. Feel free to ask any questions.

Considering how ubiquitous access to the War's Retreat Teleport is, thoughts on moving the Draynor Village lodestone a bit closer to Draynor Village?

Allow us to select one of our favorited worlds to be the default world when we log in.

Seems to me that it defeats the purpose of picking a world as my favorite when I have to click it every time I log in, I should just be able to log in and click play and go to the world I want to be in.

    TIFU by pickpocketing HAM members

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 12:25 PM PDT

The other day I was pickpocketing some HAM members for Easy clues, nothing crazy just some semi-afk RS while hanging out with my kids.

Today I open up RS to get some playtime in. My 4 year-old walks up and asks if I am going to "pick those guys butts again".

I took me more than a few minutes to figure out what the hell she was talking about. At which point I had to explain to my child what I was actually doing...

TLDR: My 4 year-old daughter thought I was picking the butts of HAM members when I was pickpocketing them.

    New player here

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 10:02 AM PDT

Hello everyone, i have never played runescape in my life but i've known about it since i was a kid.

I just want to ask if this game is worth getting in to in 2020 or if it it's just a pointless waste of time. Seems like old school runescape is more popular than runescape 3 so i'm kinda torn on what to do. Anything to reassure me that its not a waste of time? and if the player base is even active.

    thank you in advance

[Quick Question] Fastest way to get 120 DG from 116, and 120 Herblore from 110?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 11:34 AM PDT

I'm relatively close to comp cape now, and i would love to see what methods would be the best for me to try out on this DXP weekend.

Rest assured, i will use the knowledge acquired here to enlighten other people in the future when the question arise. But, in the meantime, i want to knock down those 2 skills so i leave Archaeology and Slayer as the final 2 reqs.

Ps. Don't worry about my post using up space in yourrrrr preciousssss "New" Reddit section, I'll delete it anyways, i just need a quick answer so I can plan my day tommorow.

Opinions? One dungeon alone fills it most of the way.

Knightly Components rework Idea plus idea for unique Drygore components.

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 03:12 PM PDT

    Knightly components are useless at this point, so I thought of an idea to make maybe make them not quite as useless;

    Knightly components potential new perk:

    Unwavering:

This Perk on armor gizmos prevents protection prayers /deflect curses from being disabled in PVM scenarios.

However for the duration your prayers would have been disabled the damage reduced by protection/deflect is only 10% instead of 50%

    Does not work in PVP

    Drygore Component Idea and perk:

    Chitin Components:

2x Chitin Components Per drygore weapon, Max 8x chitin components at Lv9 disassembly.

    Perk: Unflinching

This perk on armor gizmos gives the benefit that you cannot be stunned in PVM Scenarios. However, any damage taken during the time you would normally be stunned is increased by 50%. Does not work in PVP

    TL;DR

Knightly components changed to give a perk that prevents protection/deflect from being disabled in PVM but reduces damage blocked by protection/curse to 10% during timespan when they would be disabled.

Give Drygores Chitin components with a perk that prevents you from being stunned in PVM at the cost of taking 50% more damage in the duration you would have been stunned normally.

Now that the tutorial 50/50 rotation is over, can we get some stats?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 03:04 PM PDT

For a long while, Jagex had the tutorial on a 50/50 rotation, when making an account, you'd either go to tutorial island, or straight to Burthorpe.

I assume this was to gauge how well the Burth tutorial did on it's own vs. the Tutorial Island + Burth tutorial combined. I even ran a short experiment, having someone who's never played runescape before, play through the tutorial (they ended up in Burthorpe, skipping Tut Island). You can find a quick rundown of how that experiment went here.

But, can Jagex shed some light on that experimental 50/50 phase? how did it go? What did they learn about their tutorial? Are there any plans regarding new player experience moving forward? Are they comfortable with it as it is or will further changes be made?
