Silly Question Sunday - 12 July

    Posted: 11 Jul 2020 05:11 PM PDT

Silly Question Sunday is a bi-weekly thread in which you can ask your RuneScape-related silly questions:

    • "Newb" questions from new players
    • Questions from returning players
    • Silly or nonsensical questions
    • Questions you feel stupid asking elsewhere

Of course, a question thread wouldn't make much sense without answers, so please help out with any answers that you have!

Skillcapes should teleport to their respective guilds

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 06:46 AM PDT

I'm still not sure why this isn't already a thing. There are several capes that already do things similar (dungeoneering and slayer give us teleports all over the game and are almost OP), and it makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, some skills' perks only aid with getting virtual 120 (like construction), and the perks are useless for most players.

I feel like it'd make each skillcape much more valuable to claim and use, and actually serve a purpose instead of being just another fashionscape item.

Probably the biggest question I have is why some skillcapes give teleports almost everywhere, then other skillcapes seem almost useless. I feel like it would only make sense for each cape to teleport to its respective guild.

My friend asked me if there were farming timers in-game. Very sad to give them this answer.

why i think we need new content even though theres 20 years of content already

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 08:29 AM PDT

For the same reason why we need new music to be released even though theres 2,000 years worth of music already in existence. For the same reason we need new movies even though theres 100 years worth of movies that exist. It's like asking why do you need new TV shows when you haven't watched all the TV shows that already exist!

Not complaining or ranting or even sure if i'm making sense but it's just my thought in response to the people who ask why we complain about no new content if we haven't comped/true comped/completed all content that already exists :)

F2P vegetable stalls are pretty wild.

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 02:45 PM PDT

Currently there's a vegetable stall right next to a bank chest in F2P - the stall offers tomatoes, garlic, potatoes, and onions.

All of these, except the garlic (which seems to be less common anyway), are worth about 800GP according to GE mid but actual prices differ.

There's a lot of people camping this - or "people" camping this. Not even just isolated to one world, but across multiple as you see in these screenshots. This is also something you can do mere moments after finishing the tutorial (if you need to do that these days?) - you pickpocket men for 30 seconds, then you're level 2 thieving and can do this at max efficiency.

Item Potato Cabbage Onions Tomatoes Garlic
    GE instasell 345 906 795 700 39
    GE instabuy 500 920 1000 736 50

It's hard to say how much these would sell for if you simply left them for a while, but I imagine that the people we're talking about in this situation aren't exactly patiently waiting to sell them.

It took me about 75 seconds to fill my inventory, bank it, and run back to the stall.

Two trips got me 20 potatoes, 12 cabbage, 11 onions, 8 tomatoes, and 5 garlic.

So, if we assume it takes 75 seconds/inventory that's 48 trips/hour. Assuming we get the same number of each item each run (maybe not true, 2 trips if a hilariously small sample size but I have little reason to keep doing this and it's relatively inconsequential anyway) this comes to . . .

    • 480 potatoes

    • 288 cabbage

    • 264 onions

    • 192 tomatoes

    • 120 garlic

Assuming each of these are instasold, this is . . .

    • 165,600gp from potatoes

    • 260,928gp from cabbages

    • 209,880gp from onions

    • 134,400gp from tomatoes

    • 4,680gp from garlic

    • 775,488gp/hour total.

(I actually checked the wiki after doing this math and the actual drop rates are listed - but I'm not going to do the math again. It's roughly the same end result anyway but my sample seems to skew more heavily into potatoes than the average - which means the profit is actually higher than this!).

Sort of interesting for F2P players looking to make their first bit of cash since it's mostly just spam clicking for a minute, banking, repeat - good for splitscreen while you're just watching something else.

As for fixing the issue - making the stalls competitive (ie. one person gets it -> it goes away and no one else can get it, rather than letting pretty much any number of people also loot it simultaneously) could be good to help with this - although I understand they'd just go to the next best thing so the issue can't be solved that easily . . . Maybe it's about time F2P got a nice, big sweep of various pieces of content that are ripe for abuse like this one? Cursed energy is another point of interest in this sort of discussion, and I'm sure there's many, many other things that are far too accessible and abuseable that are worth looking into.

Could the Dagannoth King pets be graphically updated?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 02:35 PM PDT

I just got my first boss pet, the Supreme Hatchling (w00t). I actually tend to like the classic design for the Dagannoth Kings, but it still feels somewhat strange that the newer models aren't shared with the pet models.

Maybe a toggle between the old and new models could be nice? If not, could the old models be replaced with the new ones?

First 99 and first combat style 99?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 12:01 PM PDT

Hey friends, as they say, "there is no quitting runescape, only taking breaks." I'm returning but after 10 years and opted to make a new account.

It seems like a 99 skill cape is quite useful for the stats so I want to go for 1. At the moment I've got all skills at 50 + exceptionally the buyables (herb, construction) and archeology is also still 1.

Any advice on which skills is easiest to go to 99? When I look this up the issue is all the paths being quoted to making something easy require a big bank roll, which as a new player I don't have.

Also all combat skills are 40-45 and I'm trying to figure out which one to focus on. I'm expecting melee is easiest and cheapest, but is that ill-advised for any reason? I got mining to 73 and smithing to 64 so far.

Any advice? Thank you for reading

Hello all just a quick question, I am doing my player owned farm and I'm just wondering does a different type of animal (say cinchompa for example) give more xp then a normal one? and if so which are the best to use for xp?

    Thanks in advance!
