    RuneScape Mining: Fixes to Changes

    RuneScape Mining: Fixes to Changes

    Mining: Fixes to Changes

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 09:20 AM PST

    Stamina

The mining changes that went out this Monday which were intended to reduce the viability of AFK ore farming had a much stronger than intended impact on semi-active players. Those who were only clicking rockertunities were seeing a 10-20% reduction in performance.

We've evaluated the situation and decided to partially revert the changes. We're going to keep the harsh penalty at 0 stamina, but otherwise restore full performance as long as your stamina is above 0. This will mean that anyone mining at least semi-actively will have their rates restored to what they were before the recent changes.

    Seren Stones

Seren stones also received a fairly harsh reduction in the rate at which corrupted ore was rewarded. However, the purpose of this change was to return corrupted ore rates to where they were before the M&S rework. With the rework, Seren stones were giving far too much ore, which contributed to the problem of smithing XP being undervalued, and thus ore (and stone spirits) not being desirable.

    EDIT

I don't have a definite ETA for this right now. It can't be next week.

Not having a "Month Ahead: February" news post this month was a smart business move.

Instead of publicly broadcasting, "We have nothing new this month lmao smd" I think it's a good idea to keep that disappointing lack of development low-key.

Can we get a 15 or 30 second warning for when our incense is about to expire?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 07:10 AM PST

Title. We get it for familiars, overloads, and it seems everything else that's on a timer. It's just kind of annoying when you aren't paying attention to the little icon because you are fighting an elite (in my case, soulgazer) and the only chat box message you get is that your incense has run out. A message in the chat box is more likely to remind me to burn another stick if I don't plan on banking.

I guess ignore this if there is already an option to turn this on in game settings, I haven't seen it, but maybe I overlooked it.

    Berserker Auras Chat Box Dialogue

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 05:19 AM PST

Can we have the berserker auras chat box dialogue changed to correspond to the aura that we're using? Right now, no matter which aura you use (Berserker, Maniacal, and Reckless), the chat box states that either "You unleash a berserk rage." or "Your berserker rage has subsided." I think it would look much better if the chat dialogue read "You unleash a maniacal rage." and "You unleash a reckless rage." when using the other two auras.

I need some help to find some ancient artwork

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 10:29 AM PST

    Hey guys !

I don't know if anybody can help with that, but I've got nothing to lose.

You see, back in the days when abyssal whip was still top tier pvm gear, and the dragon defender was still some kind of a new thing, I stumbled upon an epic artwork depicting a player character which would basically scream "slayer master" (I mean, slayer cape and helm, dragon defender, abyssal whip, bandos' armour, etc). From what I remember, the background was some kind of swamp (Morytania, obviously).

Ever since I came back around 2016, I never had the chance to find it again. Even now, I'm at a total loss.

So, I was wondering : does anybody here know about that artwork, or even better, has it saved somewhere ? I would highly appreciate any kind of info !

It's time Jagex started to consider removing unused features across the whole game

    Posted: 06 Feb 2020 06:05 PM PST

Removing mobilizing armies, I think we can all agree, was a positive decision. It was a dead minigame that was flawed since its arrival. Same with the Taverly/Burthorpe cleanup. Those areas had huge amounts of clutter. So can we start to see the same for more areas of the game in an attempt to clean-up and refine the experience a bit?

All the time whenever we get new players coming in, there's a similar mild complaint that its overwhelming. And I agree, If I started now instead of 15 years ago I'd feel the same way. There's just tons of unused content strewn across the game world, particularly minigames, that could be removed all together in a stealth update and it wouldn't be noticed for weeks.

This probably would be the great purge but I think at this point its a necessary step. While I don't expect to see any mods responding with their list of plans to this, it would be nice to see if this is something that can be looked into. Then we can get user polls, actual play stats of the content potentially up for removal etc.

Personally I can see Trouble Brewing, Games room, Conquest, Deathmatch, and The Nexus getting the chop. But I'd be interested to see how many plays these have had last year. I'd also like to see the area south of Falador return to mostly woodland, reducing the size of the clan camp clutter and Armadyl tower (which must be really confusing to new players btw).

What content do you think is so unused that should be removed?

    Simple and interesting agility ideas:

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 07:11 AM PST

I want to keep this succinct for easy readability and because if the game mods see it, I firmly believe in creative freedom lol. That said, I'll list some good ideas and follow them up with the problems that they address.

Ideas: 1. Two or three more courses to flesh out the early stages of leveling agility. 2. Armadyl is literally perched on the tower immediately south of Falador. Saradmoin is sitting on a throne in the White Knight castle. As a way to introduce some critical lore and story points to new players, put Armadyl's tower to use. It's a HUGE landmark and standing at the top of it yields an awesome view. Every new friend I bring to the game sees it and immediately wants to climb it. Picture this: Climbing the winding, hazardous tower that's under siege by Saradomin's followers. Maybe some of the White Knights are Armadyl sympathizers and this angers Saradomin. You can join either team. Team Armadyl could climb and train Agility. Team Saradomin could hinder the climbers' progress for Hunter or Prayer xp. Use of the grappling hook would be key. 3. An agility ability set. Get rid of the chance for quadruple pickpocket/fishing etc. Replace it all with a set of agility abilities on a cooldown. Example: Activate light fingers to gain quadruple loot from your next pickpocket attempt - 30 sec cooldown. This set of abilities could introduce some movement oriented abilities and other interesting skilling options as well. What about a vault that moves you half the distance of surge but has a lower cooldown? Food for thought. 4. More weapons that require agility to equip. Maybe they could enable some more powerful agility abilities from the third bullet point.

Problems that this all could all address: 1. Training agility from 1 - 70 isn't very clear cut and it's confusing for new players. 2. Jagex is trying to tell stories outside of questing. The Armadyl vs Saradomin thing seems like it would address this as well as address the lack of ways to train agility early on. It would also bring more players together. I believe that plopping all the veterans in Prif while the noobs see a vast, empty, world is hazardous for the community. Bringing other skills into the mix would flesh out the support nature of the skill and desegregate gameplay. 3. Unlocking new abilities and mobility options would be highly rewarding for everyone. "Congratulations, you unlocked SLIGHTLY reduced energy drain and a worthless shortcut." Many shortcuts are weak. There's so many teleport options and having to design new areas with shortcuts in mind isn't a solution in the long run. Give people something to work toward that's fun to use and exciting, but not game breaking. 4. The introduction of weapons would be cool, but not as important. This would require lots of balancing and testing from Jagex while the other ideas and solutions would be fairly simple in the wider picture... at least from a development standpoint.

    Tavia's rod Hosting?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 05:43 AM PST

Tavia's fishing rod has a chance of granting all three Deep Sea Fishing boosts for 10 minutes to the player using it, and for 2 minutes to the surrounding players.

Tavia's rod can share it's effects to nearby players which made me wonder if Tavia's rod owners are fishing in certain worlds/spots to allow others to gain buffs off of it

Is the shared buff too short to even consider this as a thing to organise and would the best way to look for something like this is just W116, as it is the official deep sea fishing world, rather than looking in FCs or other?

    Lovestruck Pendant

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 08:35 AM PST

When destroying the lovestruck pendant it says it is purely cosmetic and another must be obtained. However the wiki says that despite this message you can still reclaim it from Diango. This isn't true, after destroying mine there isn't one to reclaim from Diango, and I don't have any others in my bank.
