Disappointed by the Jagex live streams? Try giving Shauny's streams a watch! Posted: 29 Jan 2020 05:15 AM PST There is no talk of new content releases, but you don't get much of that on Jagex's live streams either. Watching Shauny's streams are incredibly enlightening and give a raw picture of Jagex company culture, logic behind certain decisions, conversations around updates, etc. Former mods don't hold back and it's great (even when it comes to responding to players on stream). Posted: 29 Jan 2020 02:05 PM PST I feel that RS3 has long needed a skiller's boss, and this is that. Zerax, the Deathtouched ------------------------------------ Level 1,500 Life Points: 5,000,000 Lore: Zerax, the Deathtouched is a giant Chthonian demon and the original Reaper of Infernus, who played the role of Death there. He was also the personal right-hand demon of their great leader, Hostilius, and in Zamorak's overthrow of the Chthonians, he somehow managed to overthrow Zerax as Infernus's Death as well and establish his own Reaper. Accordingly, Zerax was banished to the Abyss along with Hostilius and the rest of the surviving Chthonians. Zerax has recently been freed by an unknown actor from the Abyss, and he now takes aim at Gielinor before his master arrives in full force... Location: A new cave to the west of Falador and south of Taverly. The white knights have set up camp around it. The Deathtouched Cave cannot be entered without protection! Information: The Deathtouched Cave cannot be entered normally. Instead, special robes/armor must be purchased from the Saradomin Camp around the cave. These armor/robes have been specially blessed by Saradomin to protect against the deathly aura of the cave. Head, top, bottom, gloves, and boots must be worn. There are different tiers available, which grant extra protection/boosts inside the cave. These will cost (as a set) anywhere from 250k gp to 10m gp, depending on the Tier purchased. Additionally, upon entering the Deathtouched Cave, all players are Skulled and remain Skulled while inside. You get a chatbox message that says: "The deathly aura inside the cavern curses you!" The inner arena itself is so tainted by Zerax's deathly powers that players cannot fight him at all! Instead, Saradomin has hand-blessed a group of devout soldiers that are sent to take him on. However, as the heroic skiller you are, you can still help out in the fight! Indeed, the fight hangs in your hands! Entering the fight: When you seek to begin an instance, you are required to select a Skill (Agility, Construction, Cooking, Crafting, Divination, Farming, Firemaking, Fishing, Fletching, Herblore, Hunter, Mining, Runecrafting, Smithing, Slayer, Thieving, and Woodcutting). The Skill you select *becomes* your Health Bar while in the instance - if its Level reaches 0, you die ("As your knowledge drifts away, you pass out, and the deathly aura devours you!"). The Arena: Around the outer edges of the arena are different areas that you can help out during the fight. Levels - no Level in any skill is required to Skill here, but there is a recommended level for each tier of item, and if your current Level is lower, you will be less efficient and slower by a significant amount. Tiers - at the start of the fight, all skilling locations will be Tier 1. As these are used up, higher tiers (up to Tier 5) will randomly replace them. Higher tiers are more effective against the boss. ~Agility: Small obstacle courses lead to Divine Pillars in four corners of the lair. Tag these pillars to reset the Darkness meter. Once tagged, that pillar remains active for 60 seconds. ~ Construction: There are 8 support pillars around the outside of the lair. These crumble and decay over time. Keep these repaired using Construction. If a pillar decays fully, it is destroyed. If a 5th pillar is destroyed, the cave collapses and the raid is wiped. ~ Cooking: The fish fished from the 3 ponds around the cave can be cooked on fires. These can be turned into the deposit boxes to feed the troops. Not kept fed, your troops will soon take too much damage and die. A steady stream of fish is necessary! ~ Crafting: The demonhides dropped from Death Devourers can be crafted into Demonhide armor. (Death Devourers are Chthonian demons that roam the lair.) These can be placed in the deposit boxes to arm your troops against magic attacks. ~ Divination: Can be used to siphon the Tainted Wisps that are all around. These Tainted Wisps damage everyone while they are around, but siphoning them takes care of them. The harvested energy can be placed in the deposit boxes for a damage boost to your troops. They can also be used as a tertiary in Godly Overloads used in here. ~ Farming: Several herbs will grow in patches around the arena. Farming must be used to gather these. They can be used to make Godly Overloads used in here. ~ Firemaking: Logs can be burned to provide fires to cook on. Higher tier logs last longer. In addition, each fire lit will slow the rise of the Darkness meter. ~ Fishing: Fish can be caught from the 3 ponds around the cave and used to feed the troops. Super important! ~ Fletching: Logs can be fletched into boomerangs that provide much-needed ranging capabilities to your troops. ~ Herblore: Herbs harvested via Farming can be mixed with vials of water on supply tables (unlimited vials of water are available) and Tainted Energy as a tertiary to create Godly Overloads that can be deposited in the deposit boxes to greatly boost combat stats of your troops. ~ Hunter: With logs, you can set hunter traps that will catch any Death Devourers roaming around. They'll drop demonhides that can be crafted into armors. ~ Mining: Numerous mining hotspots around the arena can be mined to give ores that can be smelted and smithed into armors and weapons for Meleeing in your troops. You can also mine pure essence. ~ Runecrafting: Pure essence can be crafted into runes at the Runic Altar (catalytic and elemental runes are created) that can be deposited in the deposit boxes to give your troops Magic offensive capabilities. ~ Smithing: Ores mined can be smelted and smithed into armor and weapons (no choices here, it'll simply be Armor (Tier 1), Weapons (Tier 1), etc.) that can be deposited to give your troops Melee defence and offense. ~ Slayer: Death Devourers can also be slain using combat (if you don't have the recommended Slayer level, you'll kill them more slowly). Death Devourers will come in Tier 1-5 varieties. ~ Thieving: You can also thieve from Death Devourers to obtain random supplies (such as ores, fish, essence, etc.) ~ Woodcutting: Trees/vines along the walls of the cave can be cut to provide logs of appropriate Tier (1-5). These can be used for Firemaking, Fletching, or Hunter. The Fight: Edit: You can NOT teleport out of this fight! The tainted aura prevents you from doing so! This is a fight to the end, one way or another. Zerax is stationary around the middle of the large lair as you enter. Makeshift barricades prevent you from entering the fight directly. Instead, Saradomin's troops enter, armed to the nines, ready to take Zerax down in quick order. However, the evil energies immediately near Zerax quickly corrupts their armor/weapons and renders them useless! They resort to fighting unarmored with their hands and feet. In addition, all of their food has been tainted and spoiled...yikes! They need help and fast! The scholars of Saradomin believe that the resources on-hand around Zerax will be immune to his curse since they are constantly inundated by his energies. To this end, all is not lost...if a group of skillers can supply the troops with much-needed reinforcements! And thus, after this cutscene plays, you enter the lair and the fight begins. Death: Death can happen here in 3 ways - your main stat is drained to 0, your raid fails (Construction beams), or your troops reach 0% health. You must maintain all of this during the fight! ~ Phase 1: During this phase, Zerax will only use auto-attacks. He cycles at random.
(The idea during this phase is to get your troops armored and weaponed-up so that they can effectively fight him!) Phase 1 ends when Zerax reaches 4,000,000 HP. ~ Phase 2: Here, in addition to his auto-attacks, he adds several special attacks. These are done at random.
Phase 2 ends when Zerax reaches 2,000,000 HP. ~ Phase 3: In this Phase, the Darkness meter fills the top of the screen over time. When the Darkness counter reaches 50%, every player will take slow damage over time. If it reaches 100%, the DoT becomes much faster and deadly. This meter is reset by tagging pillars around the lair and slowed by lighting fires. Other than the addition of the Darkness meter, this Phase is exactly like Phase 2. Phase 3 ends when Zerax reaches 500,000 HP. ~ Phase 4: The final phase! During this Phase, Zerax will use a Protection Prayer, based on the highest amount of damage he is taking. Once he reaches 250,000 HP, he will begin using 2 Protection Prayers at once (meaning only one combat style will work). In addition, he adds 2 new attacks:
At 0 HP, he is defeated, and you may get your loot. To be elligible for loot, you must not have died during the fight and you must have been present the entire fight. Rewards: I don't want to detail all reward possibilities here, but the idea is to introduce several skilling rewards that upgrade existing skilling gear and make this the new BiS gear for skilling. Also, it could release several new divine locations that produce items (like fish) not available anywhere else. It could also reward bonus XP in relevant skills as well as XP lamps. Thoughts? I realize this update tries to do a lot (incorporating 17 skills), but this would be similar to Stealing Creation meets Telos in terms of development (even though I foresee this boss being easier than Telos). Any ETA on the keybinds delay when closing interfaces? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 12:13 PM PST This "change" came into the game a few weeks ago and despite Jagex saying it was intended, a lot of pvmers have had issues with it and I believe they realised that this needs to be changed. But nothing has been mentioned since. Any mod comments on it or any news of a change. For anyone unsure of the issue. Keybinds won't register until a tick or two after you close an interface [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Jan 2020 02:10 PM PST As the title states, I am returning player. Last I played was over a year ago and it was not nearly as fun as it was when I was a kid. Part of that has be because of the lack of friends ( I have zero) . Just looking for people to hang with and learn all the features of the game. I do want to go bossing but stats are on the low side. Anyone? My username is Dracula 2328. Also thanks. [link] [comments]
