Perfectly balanced, as all things should be

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 11:05 AM PST

Jagex, as part of your ongoing efforts to balance the game, i suggest you limit the amount of TH keys you can use to 30/day.

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 03:58 AM PST

How to mitigate the damage of TH exploits without having to QA them

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 03:32 AM PST

Imagine actually putting this statement in the patch notes while running 24/7 365 OP TH promos.

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 04:38 AM PST

    shit...

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 05:05 AM PST

Rip to all the people out there with thousands of oddments waiting for 75% off stars and lamps.

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 03:42 AM PST

This feels more like a screw the players change rather than a game integrity update

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 03:21 AM PST

Note to self: Stop waiting for a better opportunity and take the one that presents itself.

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 07:19 AM PST

Cold take: It means nothing to put in oddment caps on keys/XP for "balance" if there is no cap on getting the same things with irl money

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 11:05 AM PST

"It's overpowered to get more than 30 extra keys -- unless you pay us some money of course, in which case you can get 100+!"

What a fucking joke. Game integrity and balance are dead.

Amidst all the MTX drama, I just wanna say - The tutorial improvements are great!

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 11:08 AM PST

    Seriously Jagex, well done.

Ever since my fiance showed an interest in playing Runescape, I've been paying close attention to the new player experience.

Hell, I even made a video about her starting out.

So, after a today's update, I made a quick throwaway account and did my best to bumble around the tutorial as if I had no idea how to play. I know I'm not the perfect choice, as 16 years of experience leads to an understanding of the game that I'll never be able to forget, but I gave it my best. My fiance is going to replay the tutorial at some point soon, too.

It's really well done. Gameplay elements are brought in slowly, and explained clearly. It's hard to lose track of what you're supposed to do with the breadcrumb system and the task window at the top right updating your progress.

I even tried stupid things, like using the pot of flour on the sink instead of the bucket. The Cooking Instructor stopped me, informed me that would indeed work as a method of making bread dough in the future, but for now, to just use the bucket.

Left clicking logs to 'craft' them gave me a quick explanation of the fletching skill, and then informed me that for the tutorial, I would need to right-click, then 'light' the logs.

    Okay, criticism time.

The criticism I have is small. The toolbelt still isn't explained unless you ask Turael in Burthorpe for guidance. It might be slightly more tedious, but a tutorial is a tutorial, and I feel a proper fix would be to have each instructor give you the proper items you need, then inform you to put said item on your toolbelt before continuing. So right out of the gate, Brynna, the Survival Instructor, will give you a bronze hatchet, a tinderbox, and a small net, and inform you to right-click and add to your toolbelt, then quickly explain the toolbelt's function. THEN, she tells you to cut some logs. Skipping any part of the tutorial should automatically add those related tools to your belt. Skipping the tutorial entirely should, obviously, fill your belt as it normally would.

All in all, great job. Having Tutorial Island back was already a pretty big improvement over 4 months ago, but the changes to clarity and user friendliness have been pretty big.

This community is impossible to please

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 05:39 AM PST

The title says it all. Every other post is ranting about MTX ruining the game and that it needs to be heavily reduced or completely removed. Now, Jagex limits a by-product of MTX and the community erupts out of anger. What gives? Is it just CERTAIN MTX that people want limited?

Also for those that inevitably will come at me with "Jagex should've warned us so we could burn our oddments!", remember they did say they were planning to limit oddment use after the key abuse a couple months ago.

Been waiting for this update for a long time!

Yo Jagex, can we get the memory wand from Birthright of the Dwarves as a cosmetic override for staves after the quest? Looks pretty cool, and a waste of a nice model.

FINALLY! We can combine half-eaten blubber jellyfish together now!

How’s your DXP going so far? I’m sitting on 92-99 herb, 95-99 mining, and 85-99 smithing with 21 hours left. The only thing I had planned was herblore, the rest just kinda happened

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 01:22 PM PST

Finally. Been waiting ages for this.
