PSA: If you dislike both of the choices for Yak Track tasks and don't have (or want to use) skips Posted: 21 Sep 2020 11:44 AM PDT Hop on over to a f2p world. More likely than not you'll have two completely different choices there. Maybe you can stomach one of those more? Doesn't cost you anything to check and may save you some annoyance or a skip [link] [comments]

Can we take a minute to appreciate the recent uptick in release cadence Posted: 21 Sep 2020 09:54 AM PDT
While there is a lot of ninja fixes, I think ninja focused on a specific area is far better than just patch weeks with a bunch of random fixes like we were getting before, and there has generally been at least one decent sized content addition each month (Jul. Desperate Measures, Aug. Alch Hydrix, Sept. Effigy Incubator). Also, ninja have been including some small content additions, like the new lunar spells, alongside the regular QoL fixes for current content. There haven't been many "empty" weeks in the past few months, just 1 patch week per month, which I think is fine; not ideal but far better than before. I think Warden might actually be starting to pull it off, getting the release cadence back on track; it's just taking a while to ramp up. I'm sure some weeks are still going to be "empty" going forward in the near future, but it's looking a lot better than it used to. [link] [comments]

The Yak Track event area should not be in Burthorpe. Posted: 21 Sep 2020 03:33 PM PDT Being situated right where new players first step into Gielinor, it stands to reason that many fresh faces would attempt to talk to The Curator. In turn, they will be met with a detailed dialogue about Seren, Kerapac, experiments, and anima, and will even be tasked to travel all the way to Anachronia to find flower specimens, complete with a book to log them. What is a new player supposed to think? They may be greatly confused about the conversation their character just engaged in, or even worse, attempt to make their way to this mysterious Anachronia, only to be met with strange, unknown characters like this. A while ago, when Burthorpe and Taverley were reworked, Mod Stu(?) and others went on about "cognitive load" and making sure that too much information wasn't pushed onto a new player immediately after starting the game. Right now, it seems pretty clear that the people in charge of the Yak Track do not care whatsoever about this. Saradomin forbid that this Yak Track be located somewhere remotely relevant to the theme, such as, say, Anachronia. TL;DR: Yak Track is extremely confusing for new players to come across, and therefore should not be located in the starting area of the game. [link] [comments]
