Seeing him be smug on the twitch live stream yesterday acting like this has been a year full of content and amazing year was extremely worrying. Anyone else notice this? Fake it to you make it doesn't exactly help matters when you have a disgruntled playerbase. I'm generally on the side of innocent jmods who don't have executive decisions with the direction of RS, but people like this make my blood boil.

    Staking Addiction Help

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 11:27 AM PDT

It's not a solution to staking, But I know a lot of people have a pretty bad Staking addiction, Staking/gambling will inevitably be a part of Runescape forever, However, Currently Jagex offers absolutely 0 help to people who are stuck with that addiction.

A simple solution I would like to propose, Is a Configurable NPC at the duel arena, Like Mr.Ex who can be spoken to at edgeville on an Ironman account to PERMANENTLY disable the ability to downgrade from an Ironman account.
The configurable NPC would simply add the option for a player to permanently disable staking on their account, or the ability to atleast add items/coins to a stake. As far as I'm aware, there's no piece of game content that would be taken away by doing this, For example the duel arena clue step no longer is in a duel, So wouldn't be affected.

Obviously there would be workarounds, You can make a new account and train it, Trade another player to stake for you, but both of those require that you go out of your way to do so.

I don't believe this would have a negative impact as it would be a choice thing, Only there to help people who're suffering with an Addiction. Addictions are hard to kick and the players who're no longer enjoying runescape because of the duel arena deserve the help.

Please feel free to leave any comments or suggestions on this post, I'd love to see what people think on the matter. I just think it would be nice for people to have a little helping hand to get out of a pretty nasty place :)

    Have a great day :)

While the Fortunate Components are getting more and more uses...

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 01:02 PM PDT

...could we finally have some validation/reasoning why Black/Adamant/Rune (G), (T), rune Saradomin, Guthix and Zamorak still do not give Fortunate Components? They have the same rarity and drop source as other Fort comp items, following the same F2P/P2P usability, and aren't the only clue-scroll specific items available elsewhere. To this day there is still no reason given for this exclusion other than 'Jagex says so'.

    RuneScape Demographics Analytics (From YouTube)

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 03:00 PM PDT

I Now have a large amount of data stored up so I though it would be interesting to see the demographics of my viewers as its probably large enough to be close to the actual demographics of RS (though as I'm a small channel I tend to lean certain ways due to how hard it is to find me)

All data is from the last 90 days unless otherwise specified, covering 282,335 views

    Gender

    • Male - 96.8%
    • Female - 3.3%

As mentioned above I think the smaller channels will have a smaller female participation and as they get more mainstream they get closer to the RS demographics. Jagex said it was 85% a couple years ago (no source sorry) and I've noticed as my subscriber count has gone up so has my female viewership (relatively). Back when I had 250 subs it was 99.9% male and 0.1% femlae (thank you to my one female viewer back then)

    Age

    • 13 - 17: N/A
    • 18-24: 29.1%
    • 25-34: 61.8%
    • 35-44: 7.0%
    • 45-54 1.7%
    • 55-64: 0.3%

Now Age is probably the least reliable metric on YouTube as its based on the date of birth when you create the account and we all know that when we had accounts and we're under 18 we put a birthday that made us over 18 to get access to all that "mature content."

Its interesting that 25-34 is the most viewed category as I expected it to be the 18-24 category

    Geography (% of views)

    • USA: 36.7%
    • UK: 12.7%
    • CAN: 6.8%
    • NL: 5.8%
    • Austalia: 5.5%
    • Belgium: 3.4%
    • Brazil: 3.0%
    • Germany: 1.5%
    • Sweden: 1.4%
    • Signapore: 1.3%
    • Denmark: 1.2%
    • New Zealand: 1.1%
    • Norway: 1.1%

Signapore sticks out as the only Asian country.

Watch Device (less RS related but cool non-theless)

    • Computer: 52.7%
    • Mobile Phone: 35.8%
    • Tablet: 3.4%
    • TV: 2.4%
    • Console: 1.6%

Interesting note, that people who watch on TV/Console on average watch for 2.5x longer than those on their mobile phone. Probably the console is just more annoying to click off.

    1 off stats

    • I've gotten 82.3k unique viewers over the past 90 days, so even a small channel has a massive reach to people
    • I have 96 views from WhatsApp as an external link, so I assume people are sending my videos back to eachother on there.
    • 50% of my views come from the recommended homepage. Shows just how much people let the algortihm tell them what to watch (I know I do)
    • Only 3.8% of views are from Macs which isn't that surprising since the Mac client isn't as reliable as the windows client, leading those that are heavily into RS to want to have a Windows PC instead.

If you have any questions, or data requests.. let me know and I'll see if YouTube will give it to me

    Group Matchmaking is terrible!

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 10:28 AM PDT

80% of the time when I join any elite dung group I get instantly kicked.
But when I actually find a group it's smooth and quicker than using fc.

Maybe turn matchmaking off by default so people can enable that when they actually need people.
Also wish more people used this....

What's the plan for these future updates mentioned at Runefest 2019?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 10:50 AM PDT

    • City of Senntisten
    • Elder God Wars Dungeon
    • Managing Miscellania Rework
    • Azzanadra Quest (cancelled / shelved?)
    • New pets for Ports, Minigames, Clue Scrolls (partly done?)
    • Other Runefest future updates that haven't been implemented yet

Which of these updates are still coming before Runefest 2020?

    Special attack weapons

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 09:59 AM PDT

With the new amulet coming out this has sparked a bunch of conversation about what is best to put in the amulet. Most of the conversation has been aimed towards those who do telos or group bosses. There is a big part of the community that has the levels for those things but prefer things such as slayer, gwd1, gwd2, qbd, and other things on that content level scale. So my question is for those players, what would the best special attack weapons be and why? Consider that these player might be using t80 to t90 gear and could be upgrading their amulet to the new one.

What boss(es) did you think were difficult until you tried it and turned out to be a different story?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 07:12 AM PDT

Since Hydrix is a topic right now, it made me look back to bossing in general.

I'm sure everyone has this where they think X boss is scary or is really difficult because of what they've been told or read. Usually, when person finally tries that boss 'facing their fears' or whatever the reason might be, their experience is super different than what's made out to be and it's really easy for them.

    And...

What advice would you give to those who are currently in that position?

    Construction Update - Mahogany Homes

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 08:15 AM PDT

A few years ago at the 2016 Summer Summit among some of the updates mentioned was the suggestion of a POH rework, making them more customisable or even training by building houses for NPCs. https://youtu.be/QmkUDu5Hc88?t=1680

Of course this was never released, but now they're polling the same thing on OSRS? Why has construction been forgotten and abandoned on RS3? OSRS has multiple additional rooms with a wide array of uses and are now polling on taking one of the suggestions that were made for RS3.

There's nothing wrong with them taking ideas from RS3, but the only construction update we've had recently is a MTX exclusive portable workbench?

It just seems like OSRS is getting the content updates where RS3 just gets more and more MTX. How long until RS3 actually gets a construction update, allowing us to move furniture or even just more rooms?

Rework Portables and Introduce Skilling Hotspots

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 02:08 AM PDT

Remember when you used to train cooking in rogues den? Fishing in various places? As an both ironman and normie player I hate the fact that Runescape is starting to feel more like a single player player game, where there are couple of pre-game loading hubs with players standing there and waiting for game to load.

It feels like the current gameplay is mostly focused on 5-% surface area of Gielinor. It's hard to come by a fellow player in a place that is completely dead and lacks of content. Previously when it was harder to move around the map (less teleports, no free teleporting systems) I could agree that these places, towns are usually empty.

What I'm suggesting that portables should be reworked and some minor changes to daily challenges should be introduced.

    • Portable skilling stations are made player-specific, once you've set-up them no one else can use them

    • Introduce Skilling hotspot tokens (placeholder name)
      • These tokens would be obtained similar to mimic kill tokens and possibly from TH
      • They would include the same benefits as current portables
      • However upon consuming the token, it would create the hotspot randomly to a pre-defined skilling spots in Gielinor
      • These hotspots would be classifed as D&D's
      • Hotspots would be different depending on where they spawn and could possibly somehow modify the surroundings
      • Also, some of the hotspots could be really dangerous, being potentially able to hurt or even kill you. Watch out the River Trolls, raining shooting stars, catching yourself on fire or a cursed knife!

    • Completing daily challenge in the current way would only give you 50% of the experience
      • Completing it in a hotspot or some other pre-defined location would give you the full 100% experience

This was written really fast and is by no means a complete plan to redesign the above mentioned. I'd just like to create some discussing on the topic of Gielinor feeling so empty.
