Posted: 02 Jun 2020 05:11 PM PDT Rant Wednesday is a monthly thread for exactly what you might think it's for. Rant, vent, complain, comment, speak your mind and air your grievances with anything concerning RuneScape, Jagex, or even the subreddit itself! This is your time to get whatever you want off your chest, so make it count! You might find that having constructive elements to your comment be received and embraced better by others, but it is by no means required. Think of "keep it constructive" more as a suggestion, than a requirement. The only real requirement is that you follow our subreddit rules, which includes no personal attacks, personally identifiable information, harassement, or anything that can be reasonably considered excessive. Have fun, and (try to) play nice! [link] [comments]

There's no need to defend Jagex's unethical practices. Posted: 03 Jun 2020 09:41 AM PDT Throughout countless discussions over the years, whenever it's brought up that there's MTX that has:
People will leap to the defense, or say that we can't do anything about it anyway. Jagex makes money off of these things, but you don't have any reason to defend it. "Maybe their parents should look after them better" "Maybe you should have better self control" "That's not Jagex's responsibility" And note, yes, people should take good care of theirselves and their loved ones - but that doesn't absolve Jagex, it doesn't mean they aren't doing the wrong thing. They're still taking advantage of people. You actually do harm by defending them, and make things worse even just by saying, "Oh well! I can't do anything about it." The least you can do is accept that they're doing bad things and agree that it's a bad thing. Instead we hear so often - "That's just how it is in the industry." "It won't change." "It doesn't matter." "I can't do anything." Even though we have seen Jagex react to outcry before. You aren't entirely powerless - and saying these things simply give Jagex the power to keep taking advantage of people. You're giving away what power you do have over them when you simply give up and accept their mistakes. It's not just MTX either, things like schedule-scape that encourages you to be online whenever Jagex wants you to and stay online as long as Jagex wants you to (ie. dailies - especially dailies that require you to be online at a particular time, auras, etc.). These things are about retention not good mental health. "Suck it up." "Too bad." "It's been like this forever." "I don't mind it." "Then quit." The design of the game isn't perfect, and it wasn't designed to be the most fun that it can be - or the most healthy experience. Why fight against improving that? Why put the harmful status quo above better, healthier design? Perhaps the craziest response is, "I'm just tired of hearing about it." Or something of that nature. You'd stop hearing about it if it was fixed - that's the only actual long term solution to not having to hear about it anymore. The damage being done to people is a little more concerning than you being annoyed that people are making too many posts on Reddit about it. [link] [comments]

Implementation of a Sign of the Porter VII Posted: 03 Jun 2020 08:04 AM PDT While making a bunch of porters for Archaeology I noticed that porters can only be created from Sapphires - Diamonds. From general Slayer and Seren spirits I had accumulated many Dragonstones, and thought, "Why is there not a porter that can be created using Dragonstone necklaces"? Dragonstones have historically been useful for making Amulets of Glory, Rings of Wealth, etc… More recently, they have been devalued due to Ring of Fortune and Luck of the Dwarves as well as generally better items than those created with Dragonstones. True, you can make bracelets and alch them, but I feel like implementing a new tier of Sign of the Porter would give value back to these once prized gems. Proposed Recipe: Divination Level 115 (must be boosted with Extreme Divination Potions, like Primal Feasts) 1 x Dragonstone Necklace 100 Ancestral Energy Contains Charges x (40 - 50) Having a hard time deciding if 50 would be too large of a jump from the 30 of Sign of the Porter VI, but takes quite a bit of time to grind out the energy, as Ancestral is untradeable. Thoughts, Feedback, etc are welcome. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 09:49 AM PDT Title, figured i'd round out my bases by submitting the idea here as well as to the ninjas directly. I love my machines personally, though one big problem i have with them is simply you cant just pick and chose what you want active at any given time they all have to be powerable and active meaning the most you'll ever have active at any given time is 2 upgraded and 2 regular machines. This, kinda sucks because upgraded machines can be pretty painful to get some of the rare components for, especially if you need to swap all your machines out. So what i'd ask is simple, allow us to build the max level of each machine for each plot BUT only have so many powered at a time. (which is currently 2 but maybe that should be bumped to 3 after). Request to have an option to mark favourite Relic Powers Posted: 03 Jun 2020 01:24 PM PDT There are a lot of useless Relic Powers. But also a lot of useful ones. I tend to find myself swapping between skilling and combat powers all the time. With the Relic icons really not helping identify which power is which, it would be nice to be able to mark favourites in some way to be able to find the useful ones through all the trash ones quickly. Maybe an unpopular opinion: new content should not be the #1 priority for Jagex Posted: 03 Jun 2020 01:24 AM PDT I should probably start by saying that I'm not maxed and I haven't killed every boss or done every quest, and so unlike most of the people who still play this game I may be in the minority. However, I think that for this game to grow and ultimately survive in the long-term, Jagex needs to focus on player acquisition. A lot of people will never get into this game or will quit early on for a number of reasons: - Tick rate and overall responsiveness (the big one imo) - Graphics - Lack of a sufficient tutorial (although the wiki is a very good alternative) - Servers - Zero advertising - Convolution (there's 15+ years of content in the game, and a lot of it is dead) And others I may have missed. I'm not saying that all new content should be on the backburner. Like a lot of people, I loved the archaeology update and am very excited for gwd3. Of course there should still be a team working on new content, and I'm sure the MTX team will never go anywhere, but I really think that the majority of Jagex's resources should be devoted to cleaning up the game. This means updating legacy code or reworking/clearing dead content instead of piling on more content to the point where everything is that much more convoluted and game code becomes that much harder to update. Reworking dead content might actually kill two birds with one stone, in that it would help clean things up and could potentially provide something new for the many maxed/comped players. I also know that updating/rewriting a lot of the game's code is an enormous task, but a lot of people will never really get into the game because of how outdated it all feels. People quit the game eventually, and if there's no one new to take their place this game will just continue to die. Again, this is a perspective from someone who still has a lot of existing content to complete, but I think it's an important one. [link] [comments]
