    Virgin vs Chad Dragonkin

Cosmetics have DESTROYED the aesthetic value of armor/weapons in this game.

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 03:03 AM PDT

    Simple.

All of the weapon/armor overrides are getting absolutely ridiculous.

A new player can't even look around at high level players and think "I want that armor, I'm going to work hard and get it" because 99% of the time that you examine someone, it's literally a full set of Solomon's cosmetic-only overrides that have zero context in the gameplay

That dawning realization that this player didn't actually do anything cool or put fourth any effort for some of the flashiest looking armor in the game is absolutely disillusioning.

Then you look at the real tier set armor like tectonic which (helm) feels like it was an afterthought..

You used to see someone walking around in a dragon chainbody and get downright fucking inspired to go grind Slayer until you could take on dust devils or get a group for KQ and work toward looking like chadscape420.

It's becoming harder and harder to care about accomplishing aesthetic goals because you can work your way through all of the end game content with thousands of gameplay hours and still look like a stupid meme about functional armor while nekochan69 with 0 quest points and level 65 combat wears a set of wings and crazy looking armor (with ZERO story context).

Fashionscapers need a home I guess, but their entire platform for existing requires either spending money in Solomon's store, or gathering a bunch of non-gameplay related items to stitch together something that looks decent. Not one of these stupid cosmetics are craftable, which is about the only context in which they make ANY sense.

It's absurdly simple in other games: you examine a player wearing something cool, see what item it is, and get motivated to earn it.

Even games like WoW that utilize cosmetic overrides require you to have earned the actual item first, by playing the game, rather than offering you some game-store paid arbitrary item that has never been in game/ has no relevance to the game world.

Anyways that's the end of my rant. My RuneScape sub is nearing it's end; with another wave of yak track on the horizon and inevitably more content-less cosmetic clutter in it's wake, it's a welcome end.

    Edit: grammar

Edit 2: See /u/Used_Tentacle 's comment below for the best proposed solution to this issue yet

Jagex, what the fuck are you doing?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 04:37 AM PDT

So far we've been 6 months into 2020, and we've had almost 9 months already past us. To this day, we've still only had TWO game updates hit the game in 2020, and 3 since last RF.

    • Herb + Farm 120 in Nov 2019
    • PvM Hub in Jan 2020
    • Archaeology in March 2020

^ From April onwards to now, the game has been DEVOID of new content, other than a 5-minute long quest in april.

The only other two "updates" are actually repeats of earlier events (XP Week and Yak Track). On top of that, we didn't even get an easter event. Likewise, Hati & Sköll also disappeared off the map. It's only a matter of days until we can hear whether the Summer Beach Part is on that very list too.

Where the hell is Desperate Measures? The Kingdom Management Rework? The Anachronia Archaeology Site? The Azzanadra quest? The Elder Godwars Dungeon? The Engine Tick-rate speedup? Or what about the entire Wilderness/Forinthry cleanup?

What is the Runescape Content Creation development team even DOING? The only group of people who created content is the Ninja Team in the past months, and this is a completely different team of developers. I mean, hell, even the MTX team has suddenly disappeared creating something new, as all TH promo's we've seen were all repeats, but now using the new pick-from-three system, and the SGS has had a serious drought on new content to sell in ages.

We've been already in a steady decline of actual game content updates, and 2017 had been harshly undelivered with promised/announced content, but this is just horrendous. Runescape 3 had a long 2 months where people from OSRS (and otherwise new people) had been spending both attention and interest into RS3, and there was NOTHING done with that.

Jagex, what the fuck are you doing? The content flow is getting horribly stagnant whilst, just like in 2017, you're underdelivering from announced content, and had multiple calls and opportunities this year alone to redeem yourself and grasp community interest back to Runescape 3, but you missed it.

Below specifically aimed at Mod Warden... You really need to man the fuck up, this isn't taking responsibility. You promised coming out with a roadmap for 2020, we're already halfway through 2020. No responsibility is taken for this downhill motion, nothing is being communicated to us, the entire COVID-19 situation is already 3-4 months old (depending where you are), has had long moments to already accomodate to new working practices, and especially the IT sector virtually doesn't make a difference on how you can perform your job from home.

    Jagex Can't Win For Losing

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 06:57 AM PDT

I see a lot of complaints about the Yak Track on the subreddit this morning. However, I don't understand why people are so upset. This is exactly what the community asked for - we asked exactly for cosmetics versus xp promos. Moreover, most wanted runescape themed mtx that fit within the game's world, and didn't look out of place; this ticks both those boxes.

I get the promo isn't perfect - outfits don't fit females, admittedly they look a little gaudy, and still has componets of xp promo. But on the whole, I think this strikes a good middle ground. I don't really see a need to bash the developers for trying their best to compromise with the community.

Give them a break? Just a little one.

For the next yak track, can we get some more sleek and simple outfits?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 03:58 AM PDT

Since we already know this isn't the last yak track, I'd like some cosmetics that aren't all bulky and super over the top.

See some of the older Solomon's store cosmetics, such as the assassin's gear, beach wear, or robes of remembrance.

We know you can theme an outfit after something and not make it look like a bulky action figure as you've succeeded in the past (e.g. the captain/crew outfits with POP, elf outfits with Priff). I understand the bulky stuff might be easier to advertise with, but please include something in the next yak track that is just a touch more subtle and slim.

Why haven't Yak Track issues from the first one been fixed yet?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 01:55 PM PDT

    • wobbegongs don't count for cooking
    • corrupt magic logs don't count for firemaking
    • you can't check your yak track progress in combat even though there are tasks that ask you to do combat

I thought issues like this would've been fixed already...

    City Quests are the WORST

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 02:57 PM PDT

I dare you to find content that is more suffering than city quests.

Honestly after 30k hours of playtime, I can't think of anything I find more detestable than doing 100 city quests.

Never repeat this "content" format again.

PSA: Imp-Souled perk activations do not count towards Yak-track totals

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 12:51 PM PDT

Pretty much what the title says - any resources that are sent to bank (or metal bank etc.) do NOT count towards the totals required for Yak-track tasks, which is pretty annoying. So, probably best to unequip perked tools for these tasks.

As an aside, any extra resources gained from the Honed perk (for instance) DO count towards the yak-track tasks. Maybe someone can do the maths to work out of I'm better off using my Pickaxe with imp-souled 6 and honed 6 on it?

For the love of god, can jagex fix the fashionscape of this game?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 04:29 AM PDT

Can you please go back and look at all your cosmetic releases over the past YEARS!! It's all BULKY shit! LITERALLY ONE STYLE for all hundreds of bulky cosmetics! You think we won't realize you've only changed the colors? When was the last time you've released an actual fashionscape that people actually wear? Even the christmas jumpers which is the only potential fashionscape we've had in years is bulky! What the fuck is this lazy content, is there no end to this laziness? Female fashionscape is also heavily ignored which reeks of misogyny.

Give us a fucking plain as shit shirt cosmetics like the default ones at thesalia and we'll be happy. Anything but your bulky lazy excuse of cosmetics that are fucking hideous as hell too. Who the fuck told you people are digging these bulky shit? Look around the game, you do not see anyone running around in these hideous cosmetics. Instead people are wearing the plain ones because they had no other options LOL

Anachronia Big Game Hunter Teleport Effigy

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 05:41 AM PDT

I was thinking about how nice it would be to have a hot spot that can be built next to the bait boxes to allow quick transportation between the different big game hunter zones. So I though about how to incorporate the idea. and building a magic effigy came to my mind.

The goal of the effigy is to give people who like big game hunter to use resources and other items to build an upgrade able effigy that allows you to interact with it and get a teleport option menu to the different dinos.

So I figured that the hotspot should be locked behind the hunter mark shop. So to unlock the hotspot you need to use 100 hunter marks to unlock the tier 1 effigy. The tier 2 effigy will cost an additional 200 marks. Followed buy another 200 marks for tier 3.

The build requirements for each tier is as such:

    • Tier 1
      • 100,000 stone
      • 100,000 clay
      • 1,000 law runes
      • 1,000 nature runes
      • 1,000 of each elemental rune
      • A starved ancient effigy
    • Tier 2
      • 100,000 wood
      • 100,000 vines
      • 1,000 Law runes
      • 1,000 Nature Runes
      • Elemental Battle Staff
      • A gorged ancient effigy
    • Tier 3
      • 100,000 Leaves
      • 100,000 Hides
      • A fully charged Law Staff
      • A fully charged Nature Staff
      • A Dragonkin Lamp

Each Tier Holds a number of charges to use to teleport. Which are as such

    • Tier 1
      • Holds 1,000 charges
      • Requires 1 Law, 1 Nature, and 1 of each elemental rune per missing charge
      • Has a 1% chance to not use a charge on teleport
    • Tier 2
      • Holds 2,000 charges
      • Requires 1 law, and 1 Nature rune per missing charge
      • Has a 5% chance to save a charge on teleport
    • Tier 3
      • Holds 5m000 charges
      • Requires 0.5 Law, and 0.5 nature runes per missing charge (rounded up to the nearest whole number)
      • has a 30% chance to save to save a charge on teleport

The ancient effigies and dragonkin lamp is used as a way to make the teleport effigies make sense. The island is dragonkin made so what what would have the knowledge of the island and how to make a teleport anchor than a dragonking relic.

Why did you make new, bulky, glowy armours for the Yak to the Shadows when you already have existing concept art + in-game models for Zarosian Armour that look far better?
