Hi everyone! Some quick subreddit updates for you all:

    Local moderators

Those of you who browse the official RuneScape forums may have seen some purple-crowned moderators around. The purple L-Mod crown was originally used for partners of Jagex who supported the localized versions of the game (hence the name local moderator). It has since been repurposed to mark external community managers who work closely with Jagex.

To give you a better idea of what they do, here's a quote from a local moderator describing some of their duties:

    - Forum moderation.
    - Facilitating communication between Jagex and the FMods.
    - Compile and relay player feedback/suggestions from the forums directly to Jagex.
    - Submit trademark and copyright reports; this includes reporting websites and social media pages in the following categories: phishing, real-world trading, bootleg merchandise, scamming pages, etc. - Escalate any risk/urgent issues.
    - Anything else in which our direct point of contacts at Jagex ask us to do.

A couple of them have recently joined Reddit as well! Their visible activity on other platforms mostly consists of moderation and guiding people towards support channels. Since they will be unable to do any of that here (/r/runescape is a player-ran subreddit and is not used for account help), they will mostly focus on general engagement.

Please welcome CM Husker (/u/JagexHusker), CM Stark (/u/JagexStark) and CM Krocodile (/u/JagexKrocodile)!

You will be able to recognize them by their purple crown flair.
Local and Jagex moderators will be watching this thread to answer any questions you have about this.

    User flair update

We've recently updated the subreddit's user flairs to support the Reddit redesign (new.reddit.com for those unaware). Now, if you pick a user flair it will display correctly on all versions of the site.

You can pick a user flair in the subreddit sidebar.

Users wishing to fix their special/discontinued flairs for new Reddit should contact us instead.

This game has been around for (checks the rings of the tree) a long damn time. You've all been with the company for a long time. One of you is the CEO. One of you is responsible for what content is produced. One of you is responsible for the monetization of the game.

How on earth have you guys (this includes the people we're unaware of) not figured out centralized communication yet? Year over year this hot-button topic comes up and we parrot the same thing. BE CONSISTANT. BE HONEST AND PUT THE INFORMATION ON YOUR HOMEPAGE. Streamline the localization process as best as you can or restructure how it is done. Spend some of your record profits to hire people to speed this process up. like I said in your survey, the communication regarding hiccups/delays/shelvings etc is similar to that of an independent start-up company. JAGEX HAS MADE A BILLION DOLLARS. USE A FRACTION OF IT TOWARDS SOMETHING ACTUALLY IMPORTANT.

thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Salamanders are one of the most useless animals at RooT (mediocre exp, produce, and perk), yet they have the longest average breed time. Please decrease breed tick length or increase breeding success chance.

[Ninja request] Remove the confirmation screen to forge spirit gems. In places where you use aggression potions and are constantly in combat, they basically gum up your inventory and can't be forged or destroyed.

Why don't BGH farm animals eat fish?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 08:06 AM PST

You even use it to hunt the first tier of them, not to mention that even dragons eat fish.

Double XP - Extended (Thank you Jagex)

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 03:06 PM PST

As a university student, sometimes a weekend is the worst time for double xp to come in, so with the new extended version, I can finally squeeze in playing when it's convenient for me, all while knowing I'm not "wasting xp".

Thank you for allowing me to game and manage my IRL stuff!

Jagex Appreciation Post - Lost Zeal Restored

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 11:57 AM PST

About a month ago a bug caused me to lose 100 Zeal, as detailed in this reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/eqky4i/tried_to_buy_sw_jad_pet_lost_100_zeal_no_pet/

After I reported the bug, they patched it in the next week's (https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/patch-notes---2701) patch notes that they patched the bug. Mod Zee and Mod Ferret were particularly helpful with the long email chain regarding my lost items request, which was unusual because while a currency, Zeal is not a tradeable item like GP or PVM drops.

On Monday's patch, I received my 100 zeal back (though no notification) so now I can get the Jad Pet after I get the necessary ~1m xp on DXP for Slayer! Ironically, SW is on spotlight rn, but it's kind of hard to grind on a weekday.

Can we be able to activate the ECB spec out of combat?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 02:12 PM PST

I suppose it would be a buff, but it'd really feel just like a QoL honestly; it's annoying having to use an ability/AA, just to activate the spec, when in actuality it would look more like you running towards said monster, activating special attack right before you get to them, then start attacking.

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be changed; it's the only thing about the bow I dislike, it just doesn't feel right

    Archaeology Survey

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 11:20 AM PST

I'm not even sure how to feel about this. It's a feedback survey about the archeology skill and how it was communicated.

Can Jagex just look just about anywhere and see the resounding answer is "like shit" ? The communication was fine before the original release date, but then they do that weird thing where they go completely dark about everything after a missed deadline. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the players would like a ballpark estimate on release date. It would also be nice to release some more details about the skill, surely there must be some parts about it that are nailed down enough for that.

Lastly was the tone-deaf teaser of biting 4. Whoopee, more power creep. Instead of something new and interesting, BIS becomes more BIS and players' current augments become obsolete.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited for archeology. I'm just irate after being left in the dark for a month

Thinking of starting RS3 , need help

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 03:25 PM PST

Im thinking of starting RS3 untill they add group ironman in osrs and I was wondering if there was a clear "best" guide for RS3? Similar to slayermusiq quest guides for exemple.

    Thanks!

Jagex Appreciation Post! Loving the new daily system.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 10:39 PM PST

Haven't really seen anyone mention this. The new daily task system is much less painful and annoying than before. I can complete all the tasks in like a minute, and get back to whatever I was doing. A great move away from dailyscape. Thanks!

Poor Performance/Stutters - Any help would be Appreciated

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 03:34 PM PST

So i've Recently Built a new Pc and decided to go a little overkill in order to use my Valve Index to its full Capabilities however whilst playing Runescape i've noticed a really annoying stutter that happens.. I Run the game on Ultra Everything and typically with V-sync off, only other settings off/adjusted is roofs always removed and loading screens removed. I'm curious as to whether its possibly the recent patch that's done it or whether its just me suffering... a few of my friends have stated they've noticed a performance drop since the recent patch but they did also mention they run with Potato PC's. Whilst using the Displayfps command, i do notice every 5-10 seconds it tanks in FPS and recovers really quickly (assuming thats the stutter im noticing)

So Far i've tried putting all graphics to minimum, turning V-Sync on and off, Enabling V-sync Through Nvidea Settings, Uninstalling RS Client and Deleting all cache's but as of yet i haven't seemed to alleviate this..

    Pc Specs:

    I9-9900k 32gb 3600mhz Ram Nvidea RTX2070 Super

    Running Windows 10

Thanks in advance if you reply trying to help, all helps appreciated.
