Silly Question Sunday - 13 December

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 04:09 PM PST

Silly Question Sunday is a bi-weekly thread in which you can ask your RuneScape-related questions, including:

    • "Newb" questions from new players
    • Questions from returning players
    • Silly or nonsensical questions
    • Questions you feel stupid asking elsewhere

Of course, a question thread wouldn't make much sense without answers, so please help out with any answers that you have!

3d printed some rune keychains. Really like how blood one turned out. Also the painted parts are filled with epoxy resin so the paint wont tear off.

It's been 2 months since RuneScape released on Steam!

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 03:02 PM PST

As the title says, RuneScape has been on steam for 2 months now (yay!) and I'm very curious to hear from you, the new players, how your experience has been so far.

Are you still playing? If you do, is it daily or maybe just once a week?
What was the most exciting moment or event for you (yet)?
Have you made (lots) of new friends?
What's your favorite skill and/or activity in the game?

Feel free to share your goals or achievements you're proud of!
The above are just some quick questions that popped in my mind while writing this.

Stories (funny, sweet, embarrassing) please do share!

    Raksha and Skybox

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 12:42 PM PST

So ive been having trouble with Raksha due to the pray flicking and my own internal lag between brain and keyboard, finding it fairly fun to learn tbf, but have encountered a problem when it comes to my lack of dps. When Rak hits the Shadow Blast mechanic, it resets the skybox, making it dark as hell and waaaay harder to see the animations.

Yes a solution to this is "do more dps" but ima noob and taking it safe. So please, please can you make it so midway through something the skybox isnt reset its hard enough trying to work out what comes next then having to squint to be able to see what animation he is doing.

How come this never made it into the game?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 06:12 AM PST

How come this never made it into the game?

    Player power?

I came across this today, how come it never actually made it into the game?

*edit* just found out because jagex thought it would devalue these items, even though the players gave them another approach , which is those holiday items etc would only be claimable for accounts that were made around that period, was just tossed under the rug. would have been really suitable to introduce something like this with Christmas around the corner

10 Tips and Tricks for Raksha, The Shadow Colossus (Ranged).

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 03:25 PM PST

Raksha is a really tough boss, but it is not impossible to defeat once you understand his mechanics and how the fight unfolds.

From Staying in place to using disruption shield between phase transitions, these are 10 Tips and Tricks i found useful whilst going for my kill. I hope you find them useful.

    Ability Bar.

First off, I want to mention that all my bossing is done on a revolution bar with a size of 6, this means i exclusively use revo for basic abilities, the following abilities are used on a 2 Handed Ability Bar:

    • [Dazing Shot] - [Corruption Shot] - [Ricochet] - [Fragmentation Shot] - [Binding Shot] - [Piercing Shot].

The rest of the abilities includes:

    • [Rapid Fire] - [Snapshot] - [Death Swiftness] - [Bombardment] - [Thigh Bindings] - [Snipe] - [Shadow Tendrils] - [Deadshot].

This bar is built this way because, once you switch to your Dual Wield weapons (Mechanised Chinchompas + an Off-hand), it will ignore dazing shot and jump immediately to [Corruption Shot] - [Ricochet] - [Fragmentation Shot], which will help you a lot when clearing the anima pools on P3.

    Tips and Tricks

A'ight, so, for the tips and tricks, for this fight i want to mention 2 things.

Firstly, these are based on my personal experience and what i consider to be functional.

Secondly, these tips follow the order of the fight phases, so P1-P4.

    • Tip #1: Right at the beginning of the fight, you may want to use Death Swiftness followed by Fragmentation Shot and two steps back (Do not move). This makes it so Raksha takes the increased DoT from Fragmentation Shot. Afterwards make sure to count Raksha autoattacks and take another two steps back when Raksha does his Tail Swipe, then walk back inside your DS and carry on with your rotation.

    • Tip #2: When Raksha does his Shadow Bomb Special attack, click freedom (ideally you want to use anticipate before he does the shadow bombing), then wait until he lowers his head, that's your cue to use Surge (it must be surge, not escape).

    • Tip #3: Using a Repriser (Corrupted, Ancient or Kalphite) in conjunction with a Main hand Crossbow, can help you reduce the amount of prayer flicking throughout the fight. Because instead praying against Melee/Ranged/Magic you can use resonate, reflect, disruption shield, or Debilitate to help you mitigate damage while still dealing damage (Resonance makes the Tail Swipe Damage equal to 0).

However, make sure your DPS is good enough throughout all phases, or you may end up taking 5 Shadow Waves.

    • Tip #4: To avoid the rocks make sure you run in an "U shape" instead immediately surging, this allows you to save your surge for an emergency. Also remember you can resonance/reflect the rocks and use Disruption Shield to help mitigate the damage.

    • Tip #5: Ignore the Anima Pools on the first 2 Phases because Raksha won't absorb them unless you don't deal the required amount of damage (200K) to phase him before a shadow wave special attack.

    • Tip #6: On Phase 2, make sure you place Raksha on a good spot (at the center of the arena) that allows you to replicate the same Death Swiftness rotation from Phase 1. That's why it's important to make sure you don't run aimlessly across the arena.

    • Tip #7: On Phase 3, it's a good idea to save your Rapid Fire for the Shadow Manifestations while focusing on Raksha Autoattacks, you could also use them to your advantage and use Revenge (With a repriser) to increase your DPS against Raksha.

    • Tip #8: To deal efficiently with the anima pools from Phase 3, equip a mechanized chinchompa and your repriser, as this allows you to use resonance in between your AOE attacks. Also, that's why the ability bar from the beginning of the post is important as revolution will automatically use [Corruption shot] - [Ricochet] - [Fragmentation Shot].

Also, make sure you click on the central pools instead the outer ones so the damage spreads evenly amongst them.

    • Tip #9: On Phase 4 make sure you drop a Vulnerability bomb on your feet instead on raksha, as this ensures you apply the vuln effect successfully.

Pay Close attention to Raksha's dialogue, and walk 2 tiles back and forth to avoid his Tail Swipe attack. Make sure to walk one tile before the limit, because if you walk too close to Raksha the tail swipe attack will hit you and you will lose your kill.

    • Tip #10: Save your thresholds for the blue Shield, then do a full run across the arena to collect the anima shards, make sure you use anticipate beforehand so you don't get stunned while doing your lap, also be mindful of where you place the shadow bomb so it doesn't ruins your placement (similar to the ambassador purple smokes).

    Closing Thoughts.

And that's it, hopefully these small tips prove useful to you as they proved to me during my attempts.

The fight is intense and will demand a lot of focus from you, but the real reward is the mechanical knowledge you'll obtain.

Practice mode is your friend and I strongly advice you move onto the real fight once you have 5 Successful kills. NOT 1, NOT 3, 5 SUCCESSFUL KILLS.

The reason behind being: You want to luck out on your 1st Kill, or you want to consistently kill this boss?

Actually that's the META method for learning anything in life really, if you can successfully do it 5 Times over you can do the real thing and keep being successful each try.

As always, everything i said is based on my own experience and is my opinion, you may learn a lot more from the Guides on youtube and the discord servers.

With that being said, thanks a lot for reading and best of luck! See ya around.

I posted about araxor a few days ago and got alot of feedback, just want to says thanks for all of it. It has been a hard few days and too many easily avoidable deaths. But all worth it now that I know how to use keybinds and how to actually kill him. So..Cheers :) plenty more deaths to come Im sure
