Looking for Nelly, Erin or Kurt from world 9

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 11:09 PM PST

    TLDR: title

I use to play RuneScape (I guess old school) back in 2009-2012 and what made the game so much fun for me was my rs friends. I'd love getting home from school and hopping onto world 9 and talking to my online friends. Anyway, it's been a while since then and I've lost contact with them. This is just a reddit post for the extremely slim chance they're still out there. Nelly, Erin, Kurt you guys knew me as Ryan or aqrox. If your out there hmu

    Decrease Xolo Building click area!

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 07:47 AM PST

The click area on the Interact with Xolo Building overlaps the Xolo remains that are right next to it making it frustrating to try and click on the remains. The building is so big you have so much room for an interactive area and not conflict with the dig site.

Suggestion: let us buy extra charges for the fixate ability using chronotes

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 03:40 AM PST

at some point chronotes just kinda become useless cause you have so many and meanwhile fixate is something that players do need more of but we only get 3 charges a day, and considering how off balanced some spots can be for some players, 3 a day is just not enough, so why not solve both at the same time by letting players buy more charges using chronotes (and guildmaster qualification obviously) and the arch guild store?

idk what should be the price tho, a bit hard to balance but shouldn't be anything over like 20k and even that is an exaggeration

    Slayer/arch 99+ content & slayer museum

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 08:27 AM PST

A slayer museum will be added tot the wilderness, there will be lore about what it exactly is and how the slayer masters worked together to find the museum and the master who lives in here. Maridah known as a wandering slayer master, who lived a long time ago, is a forgotten one. He starts talking to the player when they reached 99 slayer. The museum belongs to him. He wants you to rebuild it, and find every fossil of the slayer monster he assigns you. Old and new monsters will be added to Maridah's slayer assign list.

The goal of this is to find every fossil and put it in the empty display cases in the museum. Asside of this, When a fossil is found and placed inside the display cases, an archaeology hotspot will be visible in a cave under the museum where the player can excavate the hotspot to find artefacts. These artefacts can be delivered to Maridah to redeem chronotes, and rewards for the first time of completing the log.

The museum is divided into a ground floor, 2 floors and a cave. The ground floor will have display cases for tier 1, the first floor will have display cases for tier 2 and 3, and the second floor will have display cases for tier 4 and 5. Each tier will award the player with a slayer outfit piece, starting with the slayer gauntlets for completing tier 1.

Tier 1 consists of monsters between level 99-103, and all those other slayer monsters which are below level 99 (example: edimmu (lvl90)), slayer gauntlets reward.

    Tier 2: level 104-108

    Tier 3: level 109-113

    Tier 4: 114-117

    Tier 5: 118-120

Completing the museum for the very first time is a requirement for the trimmed completionist cape. Completing it 2 times, will award you with a yellow variant, to match the barrows soul cape, a third time will award you with a white variant, to match the white soul cape, and so on…

The arch hotspots (which require 99+) are located under the museum but can be excavated when certain fossils are found for the first time.

Collection log rewards (examples) The first time upon completing a log.

Log 1: Slayer ability, an elite version of the current slayer monster you are fighting will spawn.

Log 2: Somecomponents for free, to use in 2 new perks.

Perk 1: +7% dmg to all assigned creatures by Maridah.

Perk 2: +7% accurate (could be something else).

Log 3: a gem, which can be added to the corrupted slayer helmet, to create a 'protecting corrupted slayer helmet', which gives the ability that special attacks from slayer monsters will deal -15% less dmg.

Log 4: hp ability, which will halve your lifepoints but increase your dmg by +25% for 10s.

Log 5: fossil ring (emote item) : transforming you into any fossil.

    Maridah's rewards shop

Fossil collector title 'grey' : compleet the museum once

Fossil collector title 'gold' : compleet the museum three times

Skull lootbeam : 50 maridah tasks

Bloody teleport : 100 maridah tasks

'tradeable' slayer executioner swords : 250 maridah tasks

The executioner title 'gold' : 500 maridah tasks

The slayer king/queen 'grey' : compleet all collection logs from Maridah, full slayer codex and compleet museum once.

The slayer king/queen 'gold' : requires grey title and having all slayer pets

All new mobs will have a pet variant which is rng based, increased chance while fighting the elite mob spawn. (Would be cool if old mobs will have a pet too, example: tiny camel warrior)

Some old and new slayer mobs added to the t99 slayer master's assign list.

    Old

Nightmare creatures, edimmu, dino's, vile blooms, airuts, rune dragons, glacors, tormented demons, kal'gerion demons, ice strykewyrms, lava strykewyrms, corrupted creatures, soul devourers, lost grove creatures, ripper demons, camel warriors, acheron mammoths, wyverns, dragonstone/onyx/hydrix dragons, seekers, soulgazers.

    New

    Scopulus : level 99

    Toxic spider : level 104

    Abyssal titan : level 109

    Mirror spider : level 111

    Hydra : level 114

    Volcanic spider level 117

    Horror king : level 118

    Sky dragon : level 119

    Maridah : level 120

    New slayer mobs special attacks

Scopulus, located in a cave, near vorago himself in the Borehole in Falador.

Special: He sticks his hand into the ground, and rocks start to fall, then he starts using magic, these rocks become aggresive towards you. When he is defeated his body full of anima starts to explode.

Toxic spider, located in the cave where araxxor lives.

Special 1: he spits out slime, the player will move slower and gets dmg which increase each tick they stay inside the slime.

Special 2: She will sting you, can't be avoided, and your lifepoints will drain 150 each tick.

Abyssal titan, lives in a cave under the Abyssal area.

Special: will use tentacles to stun the player, who need to use freedom to escape, if he doesn't escape fast enough, there will be a high amount of dmg dealt to the player.

Mirror spider, located in the cave where araxxor lives.

Special 1: Clones himself, and you have to defeat the mirror mirror spider, if you don't you will hit yourself 50% of damage you deal to the mirror spider.

Special 2: He swipes the area in front of him, same like araxxor/araxxi special attack.

Hydra, located in the underwater cave excavation site

She has three heads, each of them has a different attack, fire, freeze and poison attack.

Fire head: spits fireballs, antifire is required, if this is one of the two heads left, she will do small fire waves like the Queen black dragon.

Freeze head: Spits water balls, no potion required, if this is one of the two heads left, there is a chance she will stunt he player for a short time.

Poison head: spits poison balls, which poison the player, anti-poison is required, if this is one of the two heads left, there is a chance she does a massive poison attack, this will be halved if you have antipoison active.

The order of which head will drop first reaching 66% hp left is random, the hydra will lose another head at 33% hp left and the special attack will occur more often.

Volcanic spider, located in the cave where Araxxor lives.

Special 1: uses range as attack, but spits fireballs in front of her where the player is fighting, burning the player even after they ran away from the burning spot.

Special 2: The spider will get into her cocoon, healing herself a small amount of hp each tick, the player has to destroy the cocoon.

Horror king, located inside the cave where the cave horrors live on Mos Le'Harmless

Special 1: The room gets darker, and bats appear, which attack the player, can be easily avoid lightning the torches near the wall.

Special 2: When the room is lit, the horror king will roar and slams the ground in a 5*5 range, so the player has to move.

Sky dragon, lives in a floating temple above Jatizso and Neitiznot

Just like rune dragons, she stays on the ground untill halve of her lifepoints, then she will fly around using magic/range attacks.

Special 1: first 50% of her lifepoints, she will use magic to trap you with diamond pillars, just like Nex, you have to destroy on pillar, or you will get damaged 50-75% of your current hp.

Special 2: When she is in the air, she will drop eggs on the floor, break them, if you aren't fast enough, minions will start to use magic/range attacks against you.

    Maridah, the slayer master himself

Standard attack, using melee with a range of 2 squares, just like the nox scythe, when fighting in distance he will always use magic.

Special 1: a barrier will spawn between you and him, he can still damage you with his magic attacks, to remove the barrier, the player has to destroy a pillar.

Special 2: clouds are floating above you, try to avoid them, raining blood, if Maridah is under the cloud, he will heal slowly.

Special 3: When he is almost dead, he regain 10% of his health, and increases his speed and dmg by 50%.

I hope you liked the idea. I love it, just more content for 99-120, including archeology :)

Sorry if my Enlgish is bad, i'm learning. Like, share, and comment, so I can edit the concept!

Credits to Goodboy and myself! More slayer content = More fun to play!

[AFK read] Archaeology and its real-world logic

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 10:40 PM PST

[TL:DR - I love archaeology, but have a few shower thoughts about how it doesn't really make sense.]

Hi all, I've been immensely enjoying the new archaeology skill - as a history buff and major, and a Runescape lore fan, it basically pressed all the buttons there were to press for me.

However, just because it's a well-designed, well-balanced and very flavourful skill, doesn't mean that there weren't gaping logic holes in its design and portrayal. Hopefully this shower thoughts article proves to be a fun AFK read as you enjoy the double xp weekend.

    (1) What's the point of archaeology in a world like Gielinor?

The greatest paradox of the Archaeology skill is that it's set in a world where plenty of ancient individuals were still alive. In the real world, archaeology was necessary because we're all mortals - nobody was left from ancient times to tell the stories of their day. We had archaeology because there was quite simply no better way - everyone's dead, so we can only rely on the stones and dirt to tell incomplete stories, and make educated guesses and cross-references to figure out the rest.

But none of that would be remotely necessary if we still had surviving dinosaurs, surviving ancient Romans, and preferably surviving nobles or kings and queens, would they? Whether in history or in journalism, nothing beats 'primary sources' - people who had first-hand knowledge of what happened. If we don't have that, their documents would do; if we don't have that, then the documents written by their contemporaries; then documents written 10 years later, then 20, so on and so forth. And Runescape happens to be chock full of surviving primary sources! Forget investigating the Church of Zaros - Azzanadra will have tea with you any time of the day. Hell, you go to Freneskae and you can talk to the god himself!

But now you're down there digging with them amateurs, guessing at 'truths' you already know or could confirm over afternoon tea with one of your friends. The mysterious Stormguard Citadel! What was its purpose? Dig arduously to piece together the past...or, you know, just go ask Armadyl next door. What was the Everlight? Gasp! But you have Efaritay's number, don't you? And if not her...Saradomin himself?

Sure, their words are not necessarily trustworthy - but that just makes you the kind of guy who would dig in the dirt for months, and spend millions on restoration materials, just to confirm if someone isn't bullshitting. Congratulations World Guardian, the world's ending and all, but who are we to stop you from screening a bit more soil?

    (2) Why us, and why them?

Having read through point (1), you might say, well, it's only the World Guaridan and certain high-powered individuals who had access to the firsthand information. The regular schmucks, and Gielinorean society, still had to dig and unearth truth. Someone had to open digsites, someone had to restore artifacts, and someone had to run the museums.

But that's exactly it - Archaeology is all fine and good, but it's not OUR job. The relationship between you and archaeology is like someone who has a car, and someone who doesn't and had to take a bus - Given the choice, nobody would've done the latter. The regular schmucks didn't know any gods or any pontifices, so they've been running digsites and trying to piece together historical evidence. All good. But why are you mucking around with them?

Back before Archaeology was a skill, the Archaeology Guild was actually portrayed as something of an in-joke between you and Azzanadra - those Varrock humans digging for a vague, unknown past, without knowing that that unknown have already become known. Walking in the Varrock museum was supposed to bring a sense of ironic satisfaction - you look at the displays and the labels, the text guessing as to who must be what and what item was supposed to be of what use, while knowing full well the stories behind them already. Maybe you've even met several of the characters in the 'history' and 'tales', and to them they were not figures of legend, just acquaintances. That was your privilege as the adventurer - you have discovered tales, uncovered truths, been there, done that - if anything, you are the person that archaeologists should be lining up to interview.

    (3) Why didn't we make use of any of the stuff?

Of course, Runescape archaeology is not just regular archaeology, and because this is a standard fantasy world where older was better, instead of rusty, unusable lumps of degraded metal, you were eventually able to dig up and rebuild wondrous artifacts, pieces of ancient technology, and sometimes even powerful weapons.

None of which you'll make use of, of course.

Yes, that's right. Our adventurer, someone who's gone through countless quests and used the ancient artifacts acquired for our own benefit, possibly even holding the sword of some forgotten commander or weapons forged from the body parts of some ancient monstrosity - suddenly grew a sense of professional ethics, and just wouldn't use anything they dug up.

Dug up a hellfire katar? Nah, they're not mine. Shiny kontos lance, maybe a tier 70+ stabbing weapon? It belongs in a museum. One of them prototype godswords? Better hand it in to (re)rust in some Aviansie's stash. A full material cache of experimental Aetherium, Silvthril, even dragon metal? Nah, I'm sure I don't want to use it to smith something.

At tier IV, a lot of discovered artifacts are priceless, incredibly useful tools that would've made our lives immeasurably easier, and it's not like there's only one of those things. But somehow we decided to respect public property in this particular case. Movario was explicitly serving as site manager for the artifacts and power, but somehow you're this hardworking honest person who only wanted to further historical understanding. Bravo!

(Side note: About using third-age iron etc to restore artifacts...did we really just try to restore thousands-of-years-old decayed and degraded artifacts, with caches of thousands-of-years-old equally decayed and degraded materials?)

    (4) Sidenote: Also, who are those nameless archaeologist heroes?

This is more nitpicking than anything at this point, but every time you access a new area in a digsite, like the impassable gaps in the Stormguard Citadel or the locked prison area in Kharid-et, even the Source itself - you find the area already populated by some nameless archaeologists milling about. Somehow they've been able to fly through the clouds, get to the Source without repairing the magic circle, teleport inside the prison door and whatnot. That's some ability.

It gave me a hilarious interpretation that somehow those high level archaeologists were able to figure out everything ahead of you, hid it from the site managers, closed the portals again, and then settled into their new existence without any other plans than 'dig forever'. Maybe they're actually secret agents?
