    Ripper demons post-nerf DPM

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 09:18 AM PDT

Autoattack DPM: Expect 15k DPM. You can go up to 20k with lucky triple slashes, but don't rely on it. This is down from ~25k DPM (give or take) pre-nerf.

In comparison, steel titan is roughly 10k DPM.

Scroll spam with Summoning potions: ~60k DPM. Down from 100k DPM pre-nerf.

In comparison, steel titan is roughly 35k DPM.

Passive: Correctly nerfed by half. Now scales linearly up to 5% damage depending on your target's LP. For example, at 50% LP you will do 2.5% more damage. At 75% LP, you do 1.25% more damage. And so on.

Did not test just putting in scrolls with just incense/spirit cape, but should still handily beat steel titan's ~18k with just that.

Overall this is just like the jellyfish and (second) Darklight rebalancing where they're toned down but still super good.

    now buff blood reavers, thx

R.I.P. Ripper Demon, Was fun while it lasted.

    There's always next week's update

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 11:21 AM PDT

Problem: PvM powerbursts are useless because adrenaline potions share a cooldown.

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 01:20 PM PDT

Solution: Put the powerbursts (besides overkill) on a "powerburst cooldown" and adrenaline potions (including overkill) on an "adrenaline potion" cooldown.

This may allow some niche usage of potions like acceleration for spinners or vitality to help tank a big hit when resonance is down or feats for a short damage boost. As it stands currently pvm powerbursts are useless.

A small piece of constructive criticism on the Yak Track.

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 11:32 AM PDT

    The Problem

The Yak Track is a good move in the right direction of how MTX should be implemented in RS3. However, there was one glaring issue with the second Yak Track that started on the 23rd of March. Archaeology was on the horizon, meaning that much of the focus would shift to the new skill. Although the Yak Track implemented several tasks focused on Archaeology, roughly half of the event was unrelated to Archaeology.

What does this mean exactly? Well, it forces players to pick one of the following options:

    • Complete the entire Yak Track before Archaeology's release one week later so that you don't have to pause your Archaeology experience to complete the non-Archaeology tasks.
    • Pause your Archaeology experience so that you can complete the non-Archaeology tasks (many of which are extensive and menial).
    • Ignore the Yak Track in favor of Archaeology.
    • Ignore Archaeology in favor of the Yak Track.

You're either forced to grind intensely for one week or ignore either Archaeology or the Yak Track to some degree. It can be nice to take a break from Archaeology, but for casual players like myself, it can also be overwhelming. I wanted to complete the Yak Track, but I also wanted to experience the release of the new skill together with everyone else. It was, simply put, overwhelming.

    The Solution(s)

There are several potential solutions to this issue:

    • Release the Yak Track when it does not coincide with the release of a major piece of content. What constitutes a major piece of content? I would say Archaeology is easily the biggest piece of content in years. New areas like Anachronia and Menaphos are also major pieces of content. Minor quests and events would not be major.
    • Have all of the tasks geared to the new piece of major content, so that the player does not have to pause their experience with the content to complete a menial task. Or, at the very least, allow every task to have two options, with one being related to the new piece of content.
    • Change the tasks not related to the new content and have them be less menial. This wouldn't solve the issue of taking focus away from the new content, but it would at least be far less intensive than the non-Archaeology tasks we got with this Yak Track. Part of the reason I didn't enjoy Yak Track this time around was because I had to stop my experience with the new skill so I could go AFK fletch a couple thousand bows. Going from the fun experience of a new skill to fletching for an hour is a terrible juxtaposition.

By implementing one of these solutions, players would not be forced to pick how they want to play. For example, had the Yak Track been released February and gone until the release of Archaeology, players would have had time to complete the Yak Track before starting Archaeology. In fact, the Yak Track could've replaced the Double XP Week (which was, IMO, unnecessary considering we had one about 3 months prior).

    Conclusion

The Yak Track is a step in the right direction, but coinciding it with the release of major pieces of content forces casual players who do not have a lot of time into a position in which they have to choose between the Yak Track and the new content. With some simple edits, this issue can be solved and casual players will be able to participate in both without having to choose one or the other.

I know that many players may not feel the way I do. But this is some constructive criticism I created based on my own feelings about the Yak Track. Feel free to disagree or add.

    Void Commendations from Traveling Merchant

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 01:33 PM PDT

Seeing as Runespan points, Stealing Creation points, etc. can be purchased, is there any reason that Void Commendations can't be? Pest Control is unfortunately dead most of the time, making grouping difficult. Would provide an alternate method of obtaining at least some of the points needed for the set.
